LONDON — Britain’s Prince Andrew said on Saturday he never saw or suspected any sex crimes during the time he spent with U.S. financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew has faced weeks of scrutiny over his friendship with Epstein, who committed suicide in a Manhattan jail cell earlier this month while being held on sex-trafficking charges.
Andrew, who is the second son of Queen Elizabeth, issued a lengthy statement saying he wanted to “clarify the facts” around his relationship with Epstein.
“At no stage during the limited time I spent with him did I see, witness or suspect any behavior of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction,” Andrew said.
British media including the Daily Mail have published a picture which they said showed Andrew waving goodbye to a woman from inside a Manhattan mansion owned by Epstein.
The Mail said the picture had been taken in 2010 – two years after Epstein pleaded guilty to a Florida state felony prostitution charge and registered as a sex offender.
U.S. court papers have previously shown that Epstein had socialized with Andrew and other high-profile figures including U.S. President Donald Trump and former president Bill Clinton.
Andrew, 59, said it was a “mistake and error” to see Epstein in 2010 after he pleaded guilty to paying a teenage girl for sex.
He said that he first met Epstein in 1999, saw him once or twice a year and stayed in a number of his properties.
“His suicide has left many unanswered questions and I acknowledge and sympathize with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure,” said Andrew, whose title is the Duke of York.
“What I thought I knew of him was evidently not the real person, given what we now know.”
His statement on Saturday was issued just days after Buckingham Palace issued a statement in which Andrew rejected any suggestion that he participated in the alleged sex crimes that Epstein was accused of.
Epstein first came under investigation in 2005 after police in Palm Beach, Florida, received reports he had sexually abused underage girls in his mansion there.
By 2007, Epstein was facing a potential federal indictment for sexually abusing dozens of girls between 1999 and 2007. Epstein struck a deal, however, to plead guilty in 2008 to the Florida state felony prostitution charge, and register as a sex offender.

According to the Daily Mail, the 59-year-old Duke of York spent six days at Epstein’s Big Apple mansion in 2010 — two years after the financier was convicted.
Epstein, 66, hanged himself in his New York jail cell in early August while awaiting sex trafficking charges.

Both Andrew and Buckingham Palace have doubled down on declarations of his innocence.
Child sex abuse campaigners aren’t buying it.
‘While he deplores Epstein’s behaviour, I do not think for a minute that anybody will believe he is totally ignorant of what was going on. I can’t believe that,” Peter Garsden, president of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, told the Mail.
“Prince Andrew ought to offer himself for an interview by the authorities in America rather than put out carefully worded statements.”

Currently on vacation in Spain with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, UK reports suggest it was Fergie who urged Andrew to come clean.
“Fergie has a big influence over him and does try very hard to help him,” Majesty magazine editor told the newspaper. “She is very loyal and protective and would have been right there with him.
“Of course, if it was a politician, he would have to resign immediately. But Andrew isn’t a politician – he is a member of the Royal Family and he can’t resign, so he is limited to apologizing.”

Meanwhile, according to published reports, the prince will cooperate with the FBI on Epstein’s twisted behaviour if asked.

NEW YORK — A federal judge on Thursday formally dismissed the criminal sex trafficking case against Jeffrey Epstein, a move that was expected following the financier’s death in jail earlier this month.

Investigators are turning up the heat on four women accused of procuring underage age girls for Jeffrey Epstein’s sickening pedophile child sex slave network.
The four women — Sarah Kellen, Lesley Groff, Adriana Ross and Nadia Marcinkova — were granted immunity in the high-flying horndog’s 2008 sweetheart prosecution deal in Florida.
Now, uncertainty surrounding whether the plea deal extends to New York’s jurisdiction means the pedophile’s potential pimps could be charged in the Big Apple, according to The New York Times.
They are accused of providing a steady supply of young girls for the hedge fund headcase to indulge his disgusting desires — setting Epstein’s appointments, paying the girls, and helping to cover up his taste for underage lechery.

Adriana Ross:
411: Adriana Ross was brought from Poland to America by Epstein where she worked as a scheduler in his Palm Beach home, Daily Mail reports. Ross is accused of propping up the sex ring because she’s accused of having a hand in helping set up erotic massages for Epstein.
In the 2008 investigation, Ross was also accused of taking out three computers from Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion which investigators believe contained naked photos of his victims.
Ross was also named on several of Epstein’s private jet flight manifests, including one in which Ross flew alongside the former president of the United States Bill Clinton.

The model mogul suspected of being at the Paris end of twisted financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking pipeline “has disappeared like a ghost without a trace”.
Multi-millionaire Frenchman Jean-Luc Brunel, 72, is nowhere to be found as cops are desperate to ask him “urgent” questions about Epstein.
Epstein killed himself in his New York jail cell on Aug. 10. He was awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges.
But his death has spawned new threads in the international probe with detectives in Brazil, the U.S., and Europe anxious for answers.

Brunel’s last known whereabouts were in Brazil earlier this summer where he was scouting new talent for his modelling agency.
“He is a ghost who has disappeared without a trace,” a Paris legal source told the Daily Mirror.
The high-flying Frenchman — who founded New York-based modelling agency MC2 — has denied being involved in Epstein’s twisted antics.
Chief Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts — who said she fell into the pedo’s clutches when she was just 15 — claims she had sex with Brunel “many times” between the ages of 16 and 19.

Roberts also claimed she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew, who has denied the allegations.

Prosecutors along with investigators are now looking closely at Brunel, who they claim is currently “uncontactable” because he has no address, Internet accounts or social media.
Meanwhile, Democratic members of Congress want U.S. Attorney General William Barr to launch an investigation into his department’s handling of Epstein’s case.
The Democrats want an explanation for the sweetheart deal the pedophile got in southern Florida when he was busted in 2008, the Miami Herald reports.
It was former U.S. Labour Secretary Alexander Acosta who inked the deal with Epstein’s legal eagles. He has since resigned.
Epstein was being investigated in Palm Beach for allegedly sexually trafficking dozens of underage girls out of his waterfront mansion.
A 53-page indictment would have seen Epstein on ice forever. Instead, Acosta shelved the report and the sick pervert pleaded to minor charges.

At least one of Epstein’s slew of victims has claimed she was sexually assaulted by the 59-year-old royal.
Epstein, 66, killed himself in early August in a New York City jail cell as the noose tightened on his decades of sex trafficking underage girls.

The letter said: “But it is clear that these materials implicate the privacy and reputational interests of many persons other than the two primary parties to this action, Giuffre (Virginia Roberts) and (Ghislaine) Maxwell.”
It does not indicate whether John Doe is well known or what allegations he may be facing.

A British actress is the latest person to be ensnared in the fallout over pervert Jeffrey Epstein’s decades-long sex trafficking web.
Now U.S. prosecutors want to interview Emmy Tayler, 44, who was the personal assistant to the billionaire’s alleged “pimp” and procurer, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell.
Tayler’s family said the actress — a former member of the fiendish financier’s inner circle — is “distraught” over the “shocking” bombshell.

“She’s been accused of things which are completely shocking to her,” Tayler’s brother-in-law, Stephen Ongpin, told the Daily Mirror.
“She worked for Ghislaine as a PA but that was in 2001. She’s distraught by the whole thing.”
Ongpin added that his sister-in-law knew nothing of the sex ring that had been fostered by Epstein and his coterie of enablers.
Meanwhile, secret court filings related to Epstein and Maxwell could implicate “hundreds of other people,” Maxwell’s lawyer said Wednesday during a hearing, CNBC reported.
Discovering who they are is another matter.

The documents are part of a lawsuit launched by victim Virginia Roberts against Maxwell.
The files contain claims by Roberts that she was sexually abused by “numerous prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well-known prime minister and other world leaders.”
“There are hundreds of other people who could be implicated,” Maxwell’s lawyer, Gregory Pagliuca, said in the docs.
Epstein was former friends with U.S. President Donald Trump, former president Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew among others.
Ghislaine Maxwell has been accused by multiple women of acting as one of Epstein’s procurers, in addition to allegedly taking part in several sex assaults.
She has denied the allegations and has not been charged.

A British actress is the latest person to be ensnared in the fallout over pervert Jeffrey Epstein’s decades-long sex trafficking web.
Now U.S. prosecutors want to interview Emmy Tayler, 44, who was the personal assistant to the billionaire’s alleged “pimp” and procurer, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell.
Tayler’s family said the actress — a former member of the fiendish financier’s inner circle — is “distraught” over the “shocking” bombshell.
Epstein, 66, hanged himself in his New York City jail cell in August while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Tayler was reportedly named in court filings as one of Epstein’s pals who frequently flew on his “Lolita Express” private jet.
Also on board were underage girls the hedge fund manager planned to rape, the New York Post reports.
One alleged victim, Swedish model Johanna Sjoberg, claimed that Tayler taught her how massage Epstein.
Sjoberg revealed that once Tayler and herself performed a striptease at the same time for Epstein.
