I do like Mayor Pete. If not President, I think he'd make a great VP or Sec. of State. His experience over seas as a soldier and the languages he speaks put him ahead of a lot of others.
NOW, we are starting to get somewhere!
In another day or two you'll see my point of view and be agreeable.
So you were in favour of allowing Saddam to continue killing his citizens (along with his two sons) as he had also done years before with the Kurds, which he gassed, hence leading Bush to the conclusion that he may still have WMDs. At the time the war started the whole world was on his side. It was only after the insurgents started getting 'difficult' that people started thinking better of it. READ THE HISTORY!
I want him to be president, but VP would be setting him up for up to a sixteen-year run in the White House. Because he is a former intelligence officer, he has the mindset and background to deal with Russia and China, and would thus make an epic Secretary of State (the fact that he speaks eight languages helps). Nothing grabs the respect of the Europeans like a degree from Oxford. I think his "just because I'm being polite doesn't mean I don't have a gun and know how to use it" demeanor would scare the hell out of Putin and make Xi very cautious.
But domestically, he has done a good job with a failing Midwest industrial city. Again, this gives him an on-the-ground perspective that the Federal bunch (senators and such) don't tend to have. As Mayor Pete says "I have actually taken the 3:00 a.m. phone call."
He has not connected well with the black community, and that's a problem not to be overlooked. He's working on it. Being fluent in Spanish should help him with the Hispanic community. I don't see being gay as a big drawback, because anybody for whom that's a no-go probably wouldn't have voted for him no matter what.
He is also, by any sane definition of the term, conservative. He's an incrementalist, and wants to thoroughly study and discuss any idea before trying it, and testing it for effectiveness before cutting it in stone.
In other words, he's smart, knowledgeable, thoughtful, brave, and loves his community and country.
No wonder the Republicans hate him so much.
I don’t think that Republicans think much about him , they appear to be more focused on Harris , Biden , Warren and Sanders at this point . That could easily change when and if mayor Pete starts to gain traction . But hey his last name might be a problem if he is known as Mayor Pete .

When reporting on downside of people, it's not a bad idea to save a little room for the real baddies like Idi Amin and Saddam Hussein and of course Hillary!
No, Saddam was an insane dictator and needed removal. Lying to actually do that act though is just as bad, IMO, in its own way. He should have just outright said "I want him gone, I want a war with him to do so".
Except there was no proof he had WMD's which is why he 'lied'. He "maybe" had them, he "Could" have had them, but no proof.
At the time the war started, the world was NOT on his side, sorry to burst your bubble. Maybe you need to read the history.
