House passes $4.5 billion emergency border aid bill with provisions for the treatment of migrant children in U.S. custody

The passage of the bill sets up high-stakes negotiations with President Trump and the Senate to deliver aid.

The vote followed a flurry of last-minute negotiations among Democrats who said they have been horrified by reports of poor conditions at overcrowded U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities where unaccompanied children have been kept.

Yep, the MAGAhats down hereabouts have been trying to excuse Donny Dodger by saying "Congress controls the money! It's all the Dems fault!"

Well, the Dems stepped up. Let's see what the majority-Republican Senate does.

U.S. House passes border aid bill, Trump vows veto

Democrats emphasized on Tuesday that while they were approving the border aid to address the humanitarian crisis, they were not ratifying the administration's attempts to restrict and discourage immigration, which Trump has made a central focus of his presidency.
"Our legislation is a vote against the cruel attitude toward children of this administration. This bill does not fund the administration's failed mass detention policy. Instead it funds effective humane alternatives to detention that have a proven record of success," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said ahead of the vote.

But Democratic leaders had to work to secure votes for the bill from progressive lawmakers worried the Trump administration might use the funds for other purposes, such as deportation of migrants.
On Tuesday afternoon, Democrats added provisions to better protect the health of migrants in the custody of U.S. Border Patrol agents, including standards for medical care and nutrition. They also added language to set a three-month limit for any unaccompanied child migrant to spend at an intake shelter unless notice is given.
Another amendment said shelters run by contractors must meet standards of care within six months or risk losing their contracts. Representative Pramila Jayapal, the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, agreed to back the bill after that provision was included.
The House legislation would also reinstate hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to El Salva dor, Guatemala and Honduras that was cut off by the Trump administration.
The same provisions that helped win over progressive Democrats were denounced by House Republicans as "poison pills." Republicans said they preferred the $4.6 billion Senate version of the bill, which has passed a committee on a bipartisan basis, and includes money - left out by the House - to pay overtime for Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees.
The House bill is a sham that "does not help our overstretched law enforcement authorities," said House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy.

It has to pass the senate to get to Trump I believe, the Senate have their own to vote on curious to see what they included.

Senate passes $4.6 billion emergency aid bill to address border crisis amid criticism of Trump administration's immigration policy

The vote sets up a clash with the House, which passed its version of the package Tuesday night. The Senate measure would provide more money for immigration judges and Border Patrol agents. The House bill would impose restrictions on the Trump administration to ensure the basic needs of migrant children in U.S. custody are met.

For those American friends who have trouble with Geography.

The country on the LEFT outlined in yellow, is your country where your freedoms are to be found. The country on the the right, also outlined in yellow is Iran.
There's an entire ocean (the Atlantic), a whole continent (Africa) and most of the Middle East separating the two. That's thousands and thousands of miles. Your "freedoms" are not to be found there.
The red dot, indicates where your 220 million dollar (I'm told) drone was shot down. It was not defending your freedoms. As for your "values", trust me, they don't have enough steam to reach the shores of Iran; but your warships and bombers do.
