While sea ice exists primarily in the polar regions, it influences the global climate. The bright surface of sea ice reflects a lot of sunlight out into the atmosphere and, importantly, back into space. Because this solar energy "bounces back" and is not absorbed into the ocean, temperatures nearer the poles remain cool relative to the equator.

I like the global warming "debate." It distills political discourse down to its essence.

People line up on either side of an issue, according to their emotional quirks, and then start throwing cherry-picked facts at each other. The nice thing about "global warming" is the cherry-picked facts tend to be single numbers.

People like mentalfloss see every warm spell as proof positive of their entire position (I'd call it a theory, but it really don't deserve that name), and folk on the other side will see every cold snap as proof of theirs.

And each side will utterly ignore, or disparage, the other side's data.

Because the one and only thing the two sides agree on is they don't want to figure out what's going on. They want to win.

When dumping huge chunks of ice into a glass of water, it cools the whole glass. Dumping huge iceburgs into the oceans I figure has something to do with cooling the oceans somewhat. However, it is something that will not last long, as less and less is forming during the winter months. It seems we are heading towards no cooling down the planet when no more ice forms.

There's one main problem with the forest fires...…………….the timing. Fires are basically good, they get rid of garbage, including rotten and bug eaten wood and gets some oxygen back in the soil. But Mother Nature has f**ked up on the timing and has too many fires going all at once. Now that we've had extensive burning two summers in a row, we may get a respite for four or five years.

Might I remind you of who rules on planet earth, it,s mother nature, and she never fukks up.

For sure, there,s about eight hundred years of recorded climate history without even consulting the ice core stuff, heat, population explosion followed by ice and snow and brutality bent on clinging on to the BTUs. Please rewrite this so it makes some sence. How will you get 90 frost free days in two or three weeks? Please review your projection. There may be erroors
