Oops! ‘FSB spy’ in US Embassy Moscow was Russian and hired by US Secret Service, Guardian reports

Britain’s Guardian newspaper is reporting that a Russian spy has been caught working in the US Embassy in Moscow. It’s alleged she had been there for over a decade and was cunningly disguised as a Russian.

Mueller request signals Gates may still be cooperating

By Katelyn Polantz and Jeremy Herb, CNN*

Alexandria, Virginia (CNN)A court filing from special counsel Robert Mueller signals that Rick Gates may be assisting the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election beyond the case against Paul Manafort.

Judge admits error in Manafort trial

In a filing Thursday, Mueller's team said it wanted to keep secret a discussion between trial attorneys and Judge T.S. Ellis regarding a question to Gates secret because the transcript of the conversation would "reveal details of the ongoing investigation."

When Gates pleaded guilty and flipped on Manafort in February, he also agreed to help the special counsel with its investigation into Russian election interference as he was needed. It's unclear how he has aided the special counsel's probe beyond the Manafort case, but Gates was a deputy to Manafort on the Trump campaign and worked on the transition and presidential inauguration.

The still-secret conversation occurred Tuesday afternoon in the middle of Gates' testimony against Manafort, who served as Trump's campaign chairman in 2016.

Defense attorney Kevin Downing had asked Gates, "Were you interviewed on several occasions about your time at the Trump campaign?"

Indeed. One might go so far as to say that Russia -Putin has a lot of "influence on the American gov......and psyche. They have used social media to their advantage. Who needs nukes when one can influence the population to that degree?? Facts are labeled fake news........and misinformation is accepted as facts in America now. That alone could render a social crisis. Putin's specialty .. divide and conquer. Trump's specialty : DIVIDE...and confuse with mixed messages.

How a Blacklisted Russian Firm Won (and Lost) a Break From Trump’s Tariffs

By*Jim Tankersley

Aug. 9, 2018

WASHINGTON — Hundreds of companies have asked the Trump administration for a special break from its sweeping aluminum tariffs. Few have succeeded. One that managed to get an exemption is a Russian firm currently subject to Treasury Department sanctions.

How Rusal America — a branch of a*Russian metals giant*controlled by an oligarch with close ties to President Vladimir V. Putin — managed to win an exclusion highlights the chaotic and unwieldy process surrounding President Trump’s tariffs.

While Rusal and its controlling stakeholder, Oleg V. Deripaska, are restricted by American sanctions, one of the company’s dozens of exemption requests was granted by the Commerce Department in July, apparently for the simple reason that no American manufacturer objected.

Department officials reversed the decision this week, after concluding that an American aluminum manufacturer had meant to object, but made a mistake in its paperwork.

GSA head may have 'misled' Congress about White House involvement in plan to shrink FBI headquarters

Aug 08, 2018 4:15pm EDT*by*Hunter

Nobody could ever accuse the General Services Administration, the government agency charged with such boring federal details as leasing buildings and purchasing needed Stuff, of being part of a Trump-resisting*deep state. Their sole notable claim to fame during these Trump years has, so far, been*the rather incredible assertion*that despite the government lease on the Old Post Office building, now a high-priced Trump hotel, explicitly forbidding any U.S. elected official from being a part of or benefiting from the lease Donald Trump isn't in flagrant violation of those terms because Trump transferred day-to-day hotel operating decisions to his favorite son Uday and so, meh, close enough.

Now the GSA is in the middle of another odd little oopsie*involving Trump; the agency's inspector general has written up a new not-yet-finalized report concluding that Administrator Emily Murphy may have misled Congress in denying White House involvement in a new scheme to shrink the FBI's headquarters and move parts of it to Alabama, West Virginia, and Idaho. (This is for budgetary reasons, of course, and surely has nothing to do with the Trump administration's obsessive attacks on the integrity of the FBI or Trump's open efforts to shutter FBI investigations into his own actions.)

Because the White House was involved, you see. And Murphy indeed*had spoken to them.

But by that time, Murphy had discussed the FBI project with President Trump, White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner and other White House officials, according a person close to the GSA who was familiar with the discussions.

The*Washington Post*also notes that she's not the first GSA official to have misled Congress on this exact point: Public Building Services head Daniel Mathews had to revise his own testimony to acknowledge that he indeed had attended multiple White House meetings referencing the project despite his initial public assertion to the contrary.

The Washington post is a stellar news institution. They did a great editorial on Canada standing its ground vis a vis the Saudi Arabia spat.

Why is it not surprising that a believer in the Jewish conspiracy would find the Washington Post to be fake news?

Barbrains duz not believe in Jewish power. What a crippled mind. The Washington Post is consistantly at odds with reality.

19 people have been charged.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cn...ssia-investigation-special-counsel/index.html

In one year, Mueller has brought charges against 19 people and three companies, including a former White House adviser, three former Trump campaign aides -- including the campaign chairman at the time -- a prominent Russian oligarch and a dozen Kremlin-backed trolls. In all, these defendants are facing a combined 75 criminal charges, ranging from alleged conspiracy against the United States, bank fraud and tax violations to lying to FBI investigators and identity fraud.

Five defendants have pleaded guilty -- most prominently, former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates, who are both cooperating with Mueller. Alex van der Zwaan, a Dutch lawyer who pleaded guilty to lying to the special counsel, is currently serving a 30-day prison sentence.

It is maybe the accidental self-inoculating genius of Donald Trump that in surrounding himself for decades with hard-core thugs, crooks, charlatans, cheats & liars, if and when they finally turn on Trump their lack of credibility continues to serve Trump.

....SNIP" Link is above.
That is an excellent point. and could explain the dynamics we are seeing.
