Nostalgia.
Remember the good, ole days? America was Number One in everything? Dad's salary was enough to buy a house AND a new Buick? Mom stayed home and washed up whiter whites? The Naygras were still sweatin' in the fields, where they belong?
I have permission from the rightful owners. What's your excuse, asshole?
So in other words the destruction of family was a success.

Sounds like Trudeau , when you win you lose .A Very Bad Sign for Republicans
https://politicalwire.com/2018/08/08/a-very-bad-sign-for-republicans/
Sean Trende: “On its face, Tuesday night seemed uneventful, or even good news for the Republican Party. Aside from a few primaries here and there, the main event was the House special election in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District. Republican candidate Troy Balderson appears to have narrowly defeated Danny O’Connor (pending a count of around 3,500 provisional ballots).”
“But the truth is more complicated. The results were fully consistent with a Democratic wave in the house washing up on our shores in November. While there’s still time between now and then, there’s not a lot of time, and we’re at the point where these elections start to be very suggestive, if not fully predictive.”
First Read: “Taking last night’s primary and special election results in total, there are at least four reasons to think that — if it takes this much energy and money for Republicans to pull out one-off wins in special elections in red districts — there’s no way they’ll be able to do it in 435 places at once come November.”

Look how the GOP is fighting back in these midterms. Immigrants who use Obama care don't get citizenship because Obama care is considered 'welfare' according to Stephen Miller. That is a blatant attempt to slur Obamacare or some good healthcare system Democratic candidates might run on and take it away as an issue people will want to vote for. The base already has it in mind that 'welfare goes to brown people. Now the brown people are getting Obama care. SickUS mid-term elections: Women break records for nominations

Trump’s New Strategy to Demonize Immigrants

Donald Trump’s antipathy to immigrants has been a defining feature of his rise to power and his presidency. He has focused much of that ire, personally and in his policies, on undocumented immigrants. But there are signs he wants to target documented immigrants, too. In February, Reuters*reported*that the Department of Homeland Security was “considering making it harder for foreigners living in the United States to get permanent residency if they or their American-born children use public benefits such as food assistance.”
A draft rule, which has not been released to the public, reportedly stated, “Non-citizens who receive public benefits are not self-sufficient and are relying on the U.S. government and state and local entities for resources instead of their families, sponsors or private organizations. An alien’s receipt of public benefits comes at taxpayer expense and availability of public benefits may provide an incentive for aliens to immigrate to the United States.”
These restrictions may now be close to fruition. On Tuesday, NBC News*reported*that Trump’s immigration policy adviser, Stephen Miller, is preparing a rule that would penalize documented immigrants for using certain public benefits: Use of food stamps, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or even Obamacare could cost a documented immigrant a green card or prevent them from gaining citizenship.
“Any proposed changes would ensure that the government takes the responsibility of being good stewards of taxpayer funds seriously and adjudicates immigration benefit requests in accordance with the law,” said a DHS spokesperson who confirmed that changes are in the works. Trump officials have sent the proposal to the White House Office of Budget and Management, the last step before the rule is released to the public for comment.

Gun Control Is the New Democratic Litmus Test
August 9, 2018 at 1:14 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 34 Comments
Wall Street Journal: “Democrats running for Congress in 2018 are pushing a muscular gun-control agenda that represents a wholesale repositioning on the hot-button issue. In this year’s midterm election, gun control has become a party litmus test from which few dissent, alongside abortion rights and support for same-sex marriage.”
“Six years ago, when the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee advised candidates in rural districts to show themselves with guns in their TV ads, the National Rifle Association made campaign contributions to 30 Democratic House candidates. This year, the NRA is financially backing just three.”

Republicans Poured Money Into Special Elections
August 9, 2018 at 9:29 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 178 Comments
Republicans and affiliated outside groups have now spent about $41.7 million on special elections this cycle as compared to just $12.3 million for the Democrats.
First Read: “That’s more than a 3-1 ratio. And it shows just how much Republican outside groups were propping up their candidates in these specials, and how untenable that model will be for November.”

I wonder if the GOP strategy will turn to making democratic voters over confident so the lazy think it is done deal and stay home.

GOP senator: 'Real likelihood' Dems win the House 'by 10 or 12 more seats than they need'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned that Democrats could win back control of the House and pick up more seats than they need to hold the majority in the upcoming midterm elections.
“There’s a real likelihood that they not only win the House, but they win it by 10 or 12 more seats than they need,” Graham told The New York Times on Wednesday.
Graham said that while he was unsure if Democrats would win back the House — “in the era of Trump, things can change in 24 hours, for good or bad” — all Republicans in competitive districts should prepare for a difficult general election in November.
“We’re bleeding among women and the enthusiasm factor for Democrats is worth 7 or 8 points, and sometimes more,” Graham told the Times.
