He might cut. The question though is whether he'll cut spending enough to counterbalance the tax cuts.
He'll most assuredly cut. Fact is, Ontario can't afford free prescriptions for old folks and free daycare for young folks, so that's not going to happen. He's already said he's going to look for inefficiencies in government and considering the mess that Wynne is leaving behind should make finding inefficiencies easier to identify.
He's definitely got his work cut out for him.
I suppose that if voters wanted, they could vote in the NDP.
Of course voters remember the mess that Liberal Premier David Peterson left behind and how NDP Premier Bob Rae inherited that mess after Paul Martin cut transfer payments to all provinces. Rae was unprepared to lead the province and eventually fell on his sword and along came Progressive Conservative Mike Harris who bore the brunt of criticism when he had to clean up the mess.
Mike Harris did two things that deserved criticism. Selling the 407 and cutting too deep. Thankfully, Dalton McGuinty's Liberals galloped in and continued what they started under the Peterson government.
Ontario has essentially become a nanny state where you aren't allowed pit-bulls, because Dalton was thinking about the children. Where big trucks clog up the center and passing lanes because they are governed at 105 kilometers an hour. Never mind they have the highest insurance rates in Canada and why not? The insurance company pretty much owns the Ontario government. And how about the highest hydro rates hoisted on the people of Ontario, even though they often pay [not charge] New York State to take their surplus electricity.
I loved many things about Ontario, but in the end I went west because I watched my paychecks get smaller and my expenses grow larger. I pay to insure two vehicles in Alberta what I paid for one in Ontario. I pay less than halve for my hydro based on what I was paying when I lived there. And that was before the hydro went bonkers. There's no HST, just a GST. The Liberals have really ****ed up Ontario, with their smart meters and stupid politicians. At this point, the electorate would be better served by a bowl of stagnant gravy than they are by the likes of that crook Kathleen Wynne and her party of carpetbaggers.
I doubt Ford will tax cut them into bankruptcy. How do you bankrupt the already bankrupted.
