Quebec informed the Prime Minister yesterday that the transfer of oil from Alberta through Quebec WAS NOT a federal decision.

If it was the energy east pipeline would be going through.

The Morgan extension is going through because BC doe not have the same rights in Confederation that Quebec has.

And that has what to do with the KM extension?

The PM stated that formal financial meetings are underway with Kinder Morgan to buy into the line. Just as I predicted. He is also going to bring forth legislation that will put paid to any further efforts by BC to hinder the line. So Horgan after all he has sacrificed to appease Weaver and the greenies WILL lose this battle and it will adversely affect his political career as well it should.

THE PIPELINE WILL BE BUILT. Best you begin to accept that fact, dear Hoid.

BC does have a right to defend its coast, Cliffy. It does NOT have the right to stop this extension which is the purview of the Feds. Horgan obviously, like you, feels that the FNs whose territories will be crossed by the line and who are in complete and total support of the extension, matter not. So much for meaningful reconciliation with them, eh.

First Nations in SK are cashing in on oil and potash and it's making a big difference in lives and the attitude towards the future.

FNs are 60% of miners in SK.

That's a big chunk of mining in SK

Direct, indirect and induced mining employment
accounted for 30,500 jobs or 6% of total employment, almost 1 in every 16 jobs with a payroll of $1.5 billion.

That number will be up 50% in the next 5 years.

More and more, I am beginning to think that all the FNs who so vigorously oppose the extension here in BC are doing so not for Mother Earth but rather in a vain and poorly disguised attempt to derail all the benefits to the FNs who support it. Or, maybe I am wrong and it is a simple matter of jealousy.

I don't think there is any maybe about you being wrong.

You have demonstrated time after time that BC is a mystery to you, and in fairness BC is unlike any other province in Canada, especially politically.

There are over 1,000 provincial permits out standing on this project - most of them requiring First nations approval - and anyone who thinks that some flowery rhetoric from Mr Trudeau is going to get them approved is dreaming.

and edit in that anyone who thinks that the KM deadline is going to be met is likewise living in Dream Land.

That deadline was set with the full knowledge it could not be met in order to give KM an exit strategy from this ridiculous project,

Is all about the money. Those that are getting it don't have a problem, those that aren't, have a problem.

I'm beginning to wonder where Hoid lives! If in B.C. he should get educated and if not he should be quiet!

Prove that with FACTS.

You have demonstrated time after time that BC is a mystery to you, and in fairness BC is unlike any other province in Canada, especially politically.
If anyone is mystified by BC politics it is you, dear Hoid. It is rather painfully obvious that you have spent little if anytime in other provinces or you would not so blithely state that "BC is unlike any other province in Canada, especially politically".

All the approvals for the extension over FN lands directly affected have passed.

As long as KM receives confirmation that their investments are secure, which according to the PM today, is in the works, the deadline doesn't matter a whit.

That deadline was set with the full knowledge it could not be met in order to give KM an exit strategy from this ridiculous project,
Whoa, now you are claiming to know what was in the minds of KM execs? Must be ESP.

Though he doesn't bother to state where he lives in his profile, he has oft said, in BC, JLM. Let him have his say. I am so enjoying debating him and proving him wrong, again, and again, and again. Best laughs of the day.

Even Rezes that are no where near a line get benefits.

I heard some pundit mention that the Federal Government may have the control of the pipeline route under the constitution, but the Province of British Columbia has control of the ocean shoreline and is able to totally control all shipping and oil tankers. British Columbia could harass oil tankers with rules and regulations til the cows come home.

Not sure if this is true, just heard a pundit mention it.

there are so many aspects to the pipeline that there is no way to simply say its in the federal realm.

You say that like someone would be worried about being on your list.

Waldo lives in Ontario, but pretends he is in BC.

Waldo purposely misquotes or lies outright. He rarely cites what he claims is fact.

Frankly, it would be in everyone's best interests to ignore him. He brings nothing to any discussion except contrariness. It gives him pleasure when people react to his nonsensical posts.

He's a friend of Flossy. That should say it all.

Fact: BC and Canada have almost no treaties with indigenous peoples.
Fact: 50% of the pipeline runs through Shuswap territory.
Fact: the Shuswap people do not want a pipeline through their territory and have vowed to stop it.
Fact: The Shuswap peoples territory is unceded land.
Fact: they have every right under Canadian and International law to stop this project.

I find it hysterical that a white guy (me) calling white folk white folk is considered racist by white folk. Can you say "snowflakes"? You white folk should stop wearing panties that bunch up so easily.
