Former NOAA Scientist Confirms Colleagues Manipulated Climate Records

Feb 5, 2017

WASHINGTON – U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology members today responded to reports about the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) 2015 climate change study (“the Karl study”).

According to Dr. John Bates, the recently retired principal scientist at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center, the Karl study was used “to discredit the notion of a global warming hiatus and rush to time the publication of the paper to influence national and international deliberations on climate policy.”

Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas): “I thank Dr. John Bates for courageously stepping forward to tell the truth about NOAA’s senior officials playing fast and loose with the data in order to meet a politically predetermined conclusion. In the summer of 2015, whistleblowers alerted the Committee that the Karl study was rushed to publication before underlying data issues were resolved to help influence public debate about the so-called Clean Power Plan and upcoming Paris climate conference.

Since then, the Committee has attempted to obtain information that would shed further light on these allegations, but was obstructed at every turn by the previous administration’s officials.

I repeatedly asked, ‘What does NOAA have to hide?’

And another completely irrelevant and off-topic reply.

How so? Pete was just putting into perspective that regardless of all the concerns about climate warming, it's still not sufficient for comfort at all times! An important fact in my books!

Don’t you worry, this will be recorded as one of the warmest years ever if not the warmest.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017–18_North_American_cold_wave

The 2017–18 North American cold wave was an extreme weather event in North America in which record low temperatures gripped much of the Central, Eastern United States, and parts of Central and Eastern Canada. Starting in late December as a result of the southward shift of the polar vortex, extremely cold conditions froze the eastern United States in the last few days of 2017 as well as into the new year. Following a brief respite in mid-January, cold temperatures swung back into the eastern U.S. shortly afterwards. The cold wave finally dissolved by around January 19, as near-average temperatures returned.

And still ongoing breaking even more records.

You just shush now Danbones... Just shush with those facts

Nice of you to accept the figures of someone who believes in the worldwide Jewish conspiracy. What other dogma do you support - flat earth? Geocentric theory? Creationism?

Lots of cold records were shattered this winter.

Any highs broken? Never heard, the topic has been cold cold cold and more cold.

Gee what do you know? Not everyone lives in Canada and the US. For those who do not understand it, climate change is global, not just regional.

Happens there all the time there just like the monsoons do, which is somewhat different then the points we are making.
;)
nice try though.

In May 2015, India was struck by a severe heat wave.[2] As of 3 June 2015, it has caused the deaths of at least 2,500 people[1] in multiple regions.[3][4] The heat wave occurred during the Indian dry season, which typically lasts from March to July with peak temperatures in April and May.[5] Although it typically remains hot until late October, Indian monsoons often provide some respite from the heat

The 2015 heat wave has had the highest recorded temperatures since 1995.[8][9] In May 2016, a new record was set in Phalodi.[10]
