I don't see a problem with such an act of civil disobedience. For comparison the numerous protests against segregation in the US were all illegal, as were Gandhi's protests in India and most of the antiwar protests around the world in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. May is playing to the people who elected her. They would expect her to be there.
She was still arrested for breaking a restraining order.
That's enough to get pegged for potentially doing the same in the US by Homeland Security to be blacklisted entry.
I don't thinks she a yank and it's not her first rodeo. She has a history. Back in the 80s she had a run in with some nasty dudes when doing an environmental assessment on a joint coal power plant and a coal gasification venture between Saskatchewan and North Dakota.

One thing I will say about Elizabeth May is that she is exceptionally smart and intelligent.

"Felony" is a legal term used more widely in the U.S. I think. In general terms I think it means serious crime as opposed to jay walking or late filing of income tax.
Actually, I think Suzuki has knocked it off. Was watching a program of his a few months back (about the Ring of Fire) and in that program he clearly stated he has doubts about humans being the primary driver of climate change.

Well, I've heard that before (that she's supposed to be smart and intelligent) and if that is true, then she's isn't contributing at all the to betterment of her constituency. So, not unlike many other "smart and intelligent" people, I prefer that she remain in jail for awhile and that she ends up having a "record". Then that "smart and intelligent" woman won't be able to travel to other countries to show how "smart and intelligent" she really is although that would mean we'd be stuck with her LOL
