When Trump cut corporate taxes by 29 percent, the whole world admired him for it, even though it was an "America First" strategy and where Trump was using the tax structure to encourage corporations to close plants and discard workers and move to the U.S..

However; when Trump mentions "Tariffs" which is an "America First" strategy and where Trump intends to use the "Tariff Tax" structure to encourage corporations to close plants and discard workers and move to the U.S. ..... It is being called Economic Warfare.

It just don't jive.

The tariffs are on resources intended to make their product more appealing to industry, industry is crying because they can make more profit by importing iron and aluminum, so technically it is a policy to MAGA by spreading the wealth within the country. I'm Canadian so I have to be against it because it will hurt us some, The tariffs are not that high just bringing our product on par to their dollar, making their resources competitive to ours.

Actually the tariffs are a tax increase that is needed to help pay for the pay cuts.

See how that works?

No they aren't. Nice try, Flossy. This is grown up talk.

Are your friends not at home this afternoon?

How the United States Looked Before the EPA

Back in 1970, then-President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the Environmental Protection Agency. Just after its creation, the EPA created a photo-documentary project called "Project Documerica." Its purpose? To "record the state of the environment and efforts to improve it."Similar to the famous photography program by Rex Tugwell's and Roy Stryker's Farm Security Administration, which depicted daily life in Depression-era America, the project examined the "rapid decaying" of the United States' environment. It focused on "environmental concerns of the early 1970s: water, air, and noise pollution; unchecked urbanization; poverty; environmental impact on public health; and youth culture of the day." The project also showed the country's commitment to solving these problems by showing "positive images of human life and Americans’ reactions, responses, and resourcefulness."

Meanwhile, the Trumpster is dismantling the EPA.

That's because, after 48 years, it's outlived it's usefulness. Like you, when you turned 18.

Now tell us what's coming next.

Canada had a 15 billion dollar drop in foreign investment last quarter.

Tariffs is just another tax in order to move manufacturing to America, just like Corporation tax cuts.

The Dems and the unions are cheering for Trump while the GOP is having a heart attack.

The ignore listers don't care one way or the other. Its all too confusing.

Are you trying for attention again, Flossy? You always say mean spirited or nonsensical things, so no one wants to play with you. :pirate:

We understand. You are acting your age. But at 14, there aren't many people here who wish to talk to you.

I liked it there, except for when we wanted to leave the island. It was before they improved the island highway. It took 1.5 hrs to get to Nanaimo to the ferry and then across to the mainland. We'd leve the house around 3:30 or 4:00 AM, but wouldn't be in Van until 830.

And that old excuse about the high costs associated with getting everything shipped to the island.

Generally speaking all our needs and interests were right on the Island- we would leave periodically mainly to visit people or on a holiday to go camping. We finally moved to the Interior in 1999 due to my wife's health concerns, which thankfully addressed her condition.

I'd like to go back for a visit. It would be easier and cheaper to fly into Comox airport and scoot around on the bus or rent a car.

Not really a hundred and fifty round trip for driver and car a couple of times a year is not onerous , the hassle of line ups and waiting time is much more disconcerting .

I would take a private flight. Just the cost of the avgas. It also gives me the option of flying up the coast of the mainland.
