Doubt about the conciousness of the universe/nature is a relativly new introduction to mankinds thought processes.
Nature is a cruel, unforgiving bitch and it doesn't take a fist full of hallucinogens to understand that.
Have another toke, Terence. Sounds like one of those things that makes perfect and profound sense when you're stoned, and you listen to what you've wrought the the next day and say "what the **** was that all about".
It seems to conform to a loosely articulated animism, paganism, pantheism.. locked in time and space. But that doesn't mean it has the least relationship with an omnipresent supernatural Truth which involves morality, destiny, purpose, structure. Those are antitheses to McKenna's 'creation'.

The thought processes of humans have been harnesed and steered in directions beneficial to the ruling order.

Is the earth conscious of the Sun and the moon and the other bodies which share this planetary system?
In this newest age of artificial intelligence it might be worth considering not confining consciousness to biological constructs alone, indeed religions of various peoples seems to have already determined this to be worthy of consideration.
The pure mechanical, materialistic modern view is without soul or spiritual awareness. Religion, in particular, Christianity, has taken consciousness to an all time low with the mindless rules and regulations, their forms of governance and lifeless ignorance. Luckily, millions of people are waking up. I just hope it is not too late to reverse that destruction caused by the mindless adherence to brain dead dogma.

Christianity has nothing to do with mechanics, materialism or exhaustion of the soul and spiritual awareness. Nor is it braced by mindless rules and regulations. At its core Christian prayer life is a contemplative discipline, one that enriches the soul, and illuminates nature and its laws. Your take, Cliffy, is that of a willful and antagonistic objectivity.. from which no real understanding of it can be achieved.
Cliffy would rather poison himself into a trace rather than by good old fashioned chanting using rosary beads.
That really depends on the Christian. If you are a schmuck before prayer, you'll still be a schmuck after prayer.
