Morneau is hopelessly tainted. Fire him.

Morneau can't be kept in a position which he's used mostly to enrich his own class of vulture capitalists.

Bill C-27, the Act to Amend the Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985, may seem like the kind of legislation that would only interest an actuary.

But for Fred Vettese, the chief actuary of Morneau Shepell, this legislation — which would allow for the establishment of target-benefit pension plans in federal and Crown corporation workplaces — is a kind of corporate Viagra.

For years, Vettese and his colleagues at Morneau Shepell have been the chief cheerleaders for these newfangled plans. They see them as a profitable business opportunity as companies desperately try to dump defined-benefit plans, and employees balk at the high risk and meagre returns of defined-contribution plans that are often their inevitable replacement.

Target benefit plans are supposed to hit the sweet spot in the middle, although they’re loved by no one apart from plan sponsors — private companies and governments. Employees and pensioners are scared stiff that the plans will leave them high and dry, allowing employers to slither out from under their promises of guaranteed pensions to employees. They fear the retirements they paid for through years of payroll deductions will evaporate, replaced by uncertain payouts determined by the vagaries of the stock market.

He is arrogantly goading the opposition to say nasty things about him out of the House so that he can sue them. I hope that somebody does. When I saw him say that, he was blinking hard, about once a second, and that says "liar" to me.

One more good reason why RRSP contributions are a better way to go. TFSP started out as a good way to park excess income as well until the government started meddling with the plan.

He's not as liberal as Trump. He just calls himself one to get elected. Much like Trump likes to pretend he's conservative

RRSP's only defer the tax.

They are limited.

The only solution is to enact law(s) that capture those avoiding/hiding their Income so that it can't be taxed.

And Morneau should not be allowed to prosper while he lets down other Canadians.....

Finance Minister Bill Morneau is refusing to say whether he sold millions of dollars worth of company stock days before introducing tax changes that may have caused share prices to drop.

Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre went after Morneau in question period on Monday, demanding to know whether the finance minister was behind the sale of $10.2-million worth of shares in Morneau Sheppell, the company he headed before he was elected a Toronto MP in 2015.

The Nov. 30, 2015 sale came a week before the Liberal government formally introduced changes to tax rates — dropping the income tax rate for middle-class Canadians while it boosting it on high-income earners.

Those rates were to take effect on Jan. 1, 2016, prompting financial advisers to advise high-income earners to realize capital gains in the last weeks of 2015 to avoid the coming higher tax rates.

“Did the minister sell his shares in Morneau Shepell in the amount of $10 million exactly one week before he tabled in the House of Commons market-moving tax changes?” Poilievre said.

The 680,000 shares were sold for $15 apiece. By Dec. 14, a week after the tax rate announcement, they had dropped to $13.96.

If the government wasn't hell bent on stealing people's money there would be no reason to hide it. I envy people that are in a position to manage their money that way. AS a union construction worker I make really good money but the government takes their cut off the top limiting my ability to manage my income properly. MOre importantly I could better plan my retirement.

That's something they are plowing.
;)
not sure if that's the money smell though.

No interest, whats the point of saving? But just wait till those "saving interest/borrowing rates" creep up...

P.Metals/Gold based block chain currencies are the way to go.

Man, you just gotta LOVE Trudeau's definition of open, honest and transparent. Sadly, neither he nor the criminal enterprise known as the LPC are anywhere near the point of being open, honest and transparent. Quite the exact opposite really.
And here I thought these so-called progressive govts were all about wealth redistribution. They just didn't tell us that their idea of wealth redistribution is very similar to the Republican concept of trickle down economics.

If the Finance Minister engaged in insider trading, he should go to jail. Conrad Black and Martha Stewart got sent down the river for less.

He's got exactly the right kind of corruption to run our kleptocratic economy. Don't complain. This is what you all want. You'd just rather he have a blue tie than a red one.
