Canada dismal at protecting women from FGM

Some Muslims are performing FGM in Canada and Canada does nothing because the government doesn't want to offend them. Ridiculous!!!
Of the two cases that took place on Canadian soil did the parents and the 'Doctor' end up in jail like they should? If not then the Canadian Government belongs on trial with the others.
How are Canadian laws supposed to protect a child who is 6 and living in Ethiopia??

Hell, teachers tell their students all the time to report any parental abuse.

There are ways to find these things out.
FGM is a pretty common acronym these days.
What blanket condemnation? He only mentioned that people are too afraid to speak out against anything Islam for fear of being labeled racists. It happened with the San Bernardino shooters.

You could replace the word Muslim with Christian of Jew and the results would be the same. People are afraid to speak out against the ones running the various shows. That isn't unique to Muslim, intimidation is a global problem.

The other thing most people don't realize is that by definition, religious circumcision is genital mutilation too. There was a rabbi in the states that gave a bunch of kids (herpes I think) by doing the circumcision with his teeth while he was infected..

Actually, Islam teaches nothing on the subject. I think it has more to do with ethnic traditions.

I was raised catholic and I was circumcised.
And I'll admit a prejudice. I see nothing wrong with the circumcision of boys for hygienic and health reasons. I know it doesn't make a big difference especially nowadays with running showers, but it can still help.

In the old days it was probably done to a woman who had cheated on her husband. OT Jews would have stoned her to death and I assume being shunned by the RCC congregation. I'n not sure this is the thread to explore what went on at the orphanages the RCC Nuns ran but it would not have been a holiday.

Circumcision isn’t harmful. The government needs to butt out and mind its own business. The only reason the government bans female circumcision but allows male circumcision is because the latter has been normalized while the former hasn’t, though both are essentially the same thing. It is only outlawed because it is not part of White European culture. This is one of the things we intend to change by becoming politically more active. It is truly ridiculous that Muslim parents should be imprisoned for the decision to circumcise their child. Not all of us Muslims practice female circumcision, but a great many of us do, especially the Dawudi Bohra sect. Now just be-cause one sect doesn’t practice it and another does doesn’t mean the former should be apathetic. Curtailing someone’s religious expression is an attack on all religious expression. Religious groups must show solidarity in this regard. Once again I repeat the state is meddling in affairs of the family and parenting which is unacceptable. There is even a malicious movement based in San Francisco which wants to ban male infant circumcision. These people will never be satisfied until they enforce their version of acceptable human behavior upon the rest of us.
I think WU was demonstrating his earlier point that it's not a religious requirement, but a cultural tradition.
I think now-a-days you'd be hard pressed to find a doctor who is willing to circumcise a male. A friend of mine recently had a baby boy and wanted him circumcised and found that there were few doctors willing to do it.
As for FGM, ZulFigar786, it's not only dangerous for the female (mentally and physically) but it's done in unacceptable situations - kitchens? At least the male circumcisions were done in hospital or a doctors office.. However, how is our government to stop people from taking their girls over seas to get it done? Even if they were to charge them with abuse it's too late!
