Yeah right.

Here, let me give you a quick run down on human intellectual evolution.

Approximately 1 million years ago humankind domesticated fire. We looked at what we did and said, "Fire. Keep warm. Give light. Protect from wild animals. Cook food, make us smarter. Hmmmm I wonder how we can kill other people with it".

Fast forward 1 million years to the nuclear age. With the promise of clean, almost unlimited power generation we looked at what we did and said, "Nuclear power will keep us warm, provide heat and light and let us keep cooking our food. Hmmmm I wonder how we can kill other people with it."

Oh yeah, evolving toward betterment all right.

Do you even realize how much more peaceful and healthy as a species we've become?

You take the club and go huddle by the fire in your cave.

Fukking Trumptards lol

The GAR booms happened mostly in the 1880s-1890s. I swear, every single town square or city center in Massachusetts has a monument with a Union soldier on top. The CSA started a little later in the early 1900s and seemed to have kept going. On Wiki there is a massive list of CSA monuments with dates. Thousands of them all over the country. Municipalities have their work cut out for themselves if they are going to take them all down.

Maybe they should be taken down as well don't want a reminder to the South of how their plantations were burnt to the ground :)

I'll look it up, thanks. Yeah, the GAR did its thing in the 1880s-90s, and the DAR got rolling in the 1890s, but as I said there were smaller booms in the 20s and 50s.

I took a girfriend from the South on a trip to Massachusetts once. We were driving on the back roads, and came into a town (I think it mighta been Webster). They had a massive GAR monument on the courthouse lawn. I said to her "I guess this is the first Civil War monument you ever saw dedicated to the side that won." She was not amused.

The small rural towns of Mass GAR Memorials are just as prominent as the ones in the major cities and towns. Then again many of today's major cities and towns were small and rural back then.

Even the indigenous peoples themselves knew it was wrong, and they couldn't read the Bible. Are you saying they were morally superior?

The indigenous people didn't want their kids taken away to be 'civilized'. Not much of a shock there.
But among white society, there were many voices who basically thought the natives were little more than animals. The very notion that they could be educated and then live together in white towns, villages and cities horrified them. MacDonald believed otherwise.

It was a shame, and a reflection of the arrogance of European culture at the time. It was not, however, a crime, and as misguided as it was, it was actually well-intentioned.

It's also no excuse for Indians to sit around the reservation doing nothing. What kind of "warrior" sits around drinking himself stupid and beating up his woman? In short hair and a business suit, I'm more of a "real" Shawnee warrior than that.

Tecumseh would beat them and drive them out.

An Indigenous MP, who called for the renaming of Ottawa's Langevin Block because of its namesake's role in the creation of the residential school system, said he does not feel the same way about stripping the name of Canada's first prime minister from public schools.

This week the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario kicked off a national debate when delegates revealed they passed a motion that called on school districts to "examine and rename schools and buildings named after Sir John A. Macdonald."

This would be done, the motion said, "in recognition of his central role as the architect of genocide against Indigenous peoples."

"When we start effacing completely that history, and not recognizing it, then people can forget very readily what occurred. And so for me it's always important to have that anchor," Liberal MP Robert-Falcon Ouellette told Chris Hall, host of CBC's The House.

"Everyone has warts. That's what makes us human beings"

Macdonald is praised for rousing the support needed for Confederation, making it happen and then keeping the country together, but his legacy is also blemished by his support for residential schools, the Indian Act, and the hanging of Louis Riel.

Ouellette, originally from the Red Pheasant First Nation in Saskatchewan, said keeping Macdonald's names on schools allows teachers to reflect on the complexity of his character in Canadian history

The Winnipeg MP was one of a group of federal Indigenous politicians, including fellow Liberal Don Rusnak, Independent Hunter Tootoo and New Democrat Roméo Saganash, who called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to rename the building housing the Prime Minister's Office so that survivors of residential schools would not be perpetually reminded of a man who "devastated their lives."

The building was named after Hector-Louis Langevin, a Father of Confederation and a prominent member of Macdonald's cabinet, who was also a proponent of the creation of the schools to assimilate First Nations children,

This really gives good teachers a bad name.

Some of the most abusive bunch of alcoholic haters ever have been teachers.
I had one once who was such a bully he was barred from teaching in the US and got a job here in Ontario.

oh well more proof unions will rot your brains

Do you even realize how much more peaceful and healthy as a species we've become?
You mean all those wars and brushfires didn't happen/aren't happening? Red fascists aren't roaming the streets looking to beat the shit out of anyone who disagrees with them? Religitards aren't being religitards? Oh yeah, we've come a long way, dumbass.

You take the club and go huddle by the fire in your cave.
Nah, I'll just emulate your red fascist heroes instead and go sucker-punch some Trudopians because they voted for a red fascist sympathizer.

Fukking Trumptards lol
So even a light-hearted post taking a jab at human stupidity requires you to mention Trump you f*cking Trudopian retard?

What's the matter cupcake, do you honestly have that much problem with reality? "Ehrmergherd, Jin casually and humorously poked fun at a human fault, he must be a Trumptard, duhhhhh".

Question: How long have you been under the delusion that you're human?

Oh my, it appears the hero of Canadian socialism, Tommy Douglas, had a major problem with gay people. Funny how he was voted the "greatest Canadian ever" though, eh?
I guess we need to rename the schools named after him and dismantle everything we have because of him, right? The NDP should also be banned since it's also part of his legacy.

See how this game works? Like I said, if we keep destroying everything that someone finds offensive we won't have anything left.

In the last couple of weeks, t-bones, you've labelled me as white supremicist, closet homosexual, religious zealot, 'chicken hawk', hypocrite, holy inquisitioner. Take your pick. In your strange, skewed surreal psycho-landscape anything could apply i guess.
In her moral superiority she tends to do that . It comes from being an underdog and all . What with free education and affirmative action she attained an internet law degree and must use it .

Considering your seething rage, I suspect you feel the same way about it.

And you don't like it.

It is well documented that Tec is a white man hater. His racist sexist hatred of white males is off the charts.
