Funny, they are number 7 on the list.
I guess the gun takers must have messed up somewhere.

What is with the "...according to Canadians" bit. Either a city is unsafe or it isn't. Who the hell cares how it is perceived?

Didn't you know?... perception, not fact, drives public policy. Just think of the lunacy of the firearms legislation, the AR-15, a mid powered semi auto rifle is restricted because it resembles a "military style" rifle. The M-1 Garand, a high powered semi auto 30.06 rifle, the M-1 Carbine, a low powered semi auto rifle, and the SKS mid powered semi auto rifle are all MILITARY rifles, issued to troops and used in battle, are all non restricted. The Siminov Karbine (sic) SKS can be bought at Canadian Tire.

It doesn't have to make sense to become govenment policy.

Halifax is the only place I've lived, (besides the rez) where a house on my street was intentionally shot up. An upscale neighbourhood in fact, but it was the home of gang leaders Jimmy Melvin and Jimmy Jr. so no real surprise there.

Yep. Down hereabouts we call 'em "ugly gun laws."

You could make a pretty good argument that if it makes sense, it CAN'T become government policy.

Yeah, well, Nova Scotians. What're ya gonna do?

It should be judged by how safe a white family of 4 feels should their suv break down in their neighborhood just as the sun is setting, the next week would see the phobia grow or shrink. If it grows a few months out on the tundra will cure that and if it shrinks he is ready to visit town. Any thing bigger than a small town would be a threat. A small town and the stranger phobia not being taken into account.

Yeah, but even painted pink and AR-15 is still restricted, but they did come out with other brands that aren't, funny though, the ones I've seen are either brown or camo, hmmm.

We don't have "ugly gun" laws so much, otherwise my 12Ga. would be prohibited, I call it my ugly stick, a 3 shot semi with a full choke 30" faded blue barrel and well worn stock, but folks stop laughing when I smoke those long range double clay shots.

Just the same, you can't, or at least shouldn't base policy on feelings, they're irrelevant. There's bear scat in the mountains that smells of pepper and has bells and whistles in it because people "felt" safe carrying nothing but bear spray and noise makers.

Move to Alberta, rural Alberta :-D
Yes, come one, come all. We need some new toys. Yes you are allowed to bring in lots of untraceable money. Book-keeping is a tad more expensive as we do have politicians just like most of the world.
News flash or memo update, take your pick. Alberta is rural, all of it. The few cities can be driven across in an hour. Once you have lost sight of all barb-wire fence you can drive 4 hours and not see another one. That is as rural as it gets. City dwellers (I can't believe I'm using that term and it fits) shy away from the rural parts unless it is the foothills on a long weekend and then then bunch up as much as possible and claim to have 'survived a brush with nature'. I mean really, . . . grow the fuk up and keep your powder dry.

Close to town, no acreages on either side. This spot is 10 miles from town and could be a park for zip-lines as well as paddling down the creek.

Good man. I've got a Kel-Tek KSG bullpup. 12-bore, double tubes. 18 inch barrel. 14 in the tubes, one up the spout. It's my street sweeper. When you expect a shotgun to dry up, it just. . . keeps. . . on . . . going.

Lol, as I spent my 20's in Halifax, yeah you hear a lot of news about shootings and such but 90% of the reported crimes involving guns were drive bys in Spryfield where a car would unload on a house and drive off.... No one injured.

Not sure what they were all about but they happened quite often, nobody was hurt.

Guess they couldn't find a barn to shoot.

Ha, yeah as I mentioned above... Shooting up houses. I guess it's gun related crime but a P*ss poor one.

Put some slugs in and everybody scatters no matter what the barrel length is. Is there anything you guys aren't amateurs at? Personally I think any longer than the pump is a waste of space and it will just get hung up on shit. Roombroom is the common term depending on the load.
Back off on the powder just a bit and you might be able to add some more pellets to the barrel before discharging. El Destructo Si??

A little something for when only 1/2 the room needs cleaning.

This is probably illegal everywhere.

Yeah, the Melvin's did their business in Spryfield the they lived in Fall River, pretty much a world away, you know dogs don't $h!t where they sleep, but their feud with the Marriott's brought the $h!t home to them. A couple of Marriotts didn't survive, but Jimmy Jr., though shot 5 times on three different occasions seemed to always walk away. But they were still dubbed "the gang that couldn't shoot straight", but spend enough lead and someone's gonna get a hurt real bad.

In the 13 years I lived there the shooting incidents went from 2 a week down to about 2 a month. Funny, I only know of one accidental shooting causing bodily harm involving a legal firearm in all that time, a fellow I know shot himself in the thigh with a .22 pistol while disassembling it for cleaning, (long story), damn near died though, he was lucky.

People scatter just by seeing a big bore, unless their name is Kreskin they have no way of knowing what load you're using. Yes, I was told that I should just buy another barrel and Have Sam Adams, (a well known NS Gunsmith) cut it down, but I left before I could find one for my gun. Rifled slugs are hard on a full choke but a buddy cast and loaded a design of fin stabilized slugs of a slightly smaller bore wrapped in a sabot that work really well, and with the longer barrel have a surprisingly tight pattern at 75 yards.

Mine is considered a goose gun and I use it primarily for birds and clays, but have done fairly well in three gun shoots with it. It would probably be a distant 3rd choice for home defense. Shotguns loaded with anything but slugs are rather indiscriminate, and anyone hit with even a glancing blow of 0 - 000 Buck or SSG's will likely not survive the encounter. I'm sure law enforcement would be looking pretty hard at anyone using such in that situation with a suspicion of premeditation.
