Our society is anything but hopeless. Our ancestors would look on in wonderment at a society where we don't bury most of our children, where starving people aren't hanged for stealing bread, where our sisters, wives, mothers are not routinely raped by our own "leaders", where we can own property and elect our leaders.
Sociopaths can't find a way to fit in but, for the rest of us humans, we have never had it so good.
