The Casino will nail you in many different ways...
I was up $100.00 after 20 minutes during a visit many years ago. But we were out for a lengthy night of entertainment...needless to say I hung around and ended up in the hole.
They also strategically place ATM machines near every exit.
Also, you only ever hear about a chronic gambler's winnings. You never hear about the losses.

That is true. Generally during a gambling session there are one or two points where you are ahead. Smart people leave then! I'm not always smart in that regard.
I remember meeting friends at a casino once. We just sat around the bar area and chatted, and the virgin drinks were on the house that night. I took advantage of that!
The next time we were going to meet friends at the casino, the virgin drinks weren't free that time. That's how they suck you in. Luckily, we never met friends there again. I'm not even sure why they wanted to meet at the casino unless they'd been playing before they were to meet us I suppose.

It must be exciting going out to a drinking and gambling establishment to not partake .

You're the one who does not have the guts to gamble . I bet your still trying to win the lotto though ?
The better players are much easier to bluff as they would rather not risk the chips especially early in a tournament .
