Yeah, I'm sorry. I am used to white liberals teaching and talking about NA/FN Culture as one homogeneous society.
Did you ever see the movie "Billy Jack?" Where the blond, blue-eyed "half Indian" went on a spirit quest dressed in Lakotah clothes in an Anasazi kiva ruin in Arizona, and let himself be repeatedly bitten by a rattlesnake? Cuz he was an Indun.

They're only speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Last I checked I do a pretty fair job of speaking for myself, but I take your meaning. Maybe Cliffy can wave an owl feather for me or something.

Okay, you don't have to be whatever it is that you were born into, or from, or what your DNA appears to suggest you are, or anything. No one can force you. Not the government. Not the courts. No one. Check with CLiffy on this.

For example, just because you were (allegedly) born white doesn't mean that you have to BE white. You can be whatever you want. And when people challenge you, they only need to be reminded that it is racist and old fashioned thinking. Ancestry.com is false because it claims it can actually tell you what you are genetically. But as we all know, that's wrong, and definitely illegal.
That's actually true. Tecumseh said "Shawnee is not a matter of blood, it is a matter of belief." Though we usually ask for a little bit more than just "identifying."

By the way, the Village People Indian was a real Indun. He's Hispanic, which means he's got Indian blood. The system works a mite different below the Rio Grande.

Do you think getting the author right would add to the validity of your comments or take away from it? The correct answer is Mary of Bethany is the author of the Gospel of John (the Baptist)

2Jo:1:1:
The elder unto the elect lady and her children,
whom I love in the truth;
and not I only,
but also all they that have known the truth;

If only Kindergarten rules could remedy our spiritual illness, Cliffy.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NIV)

And then there are those who will place heavy burdens on the shoulders of men. Matt:23

My yoke is easy and my burden is light. What does that mean Motar. Strain for the prize?

May you be blessed with the eyes of a child.

Beautiful picture Cliffy.

"The cross was not punishment for sin and depravity. Rather the cross revealed the sinfulness and depravity in punishment. That we have managed to reverse that as Christians is a testament to the resilience of our idolatrous ideology of retribution." - David Henson

No shit. Crucifixion was a sick and twisted public execution. It never had anything to do with sin you hillbilly half wit.

It's not rocket appliances.

Cliffy has stated that he is an atheist Motar. What do you expect him to say?
No, I have repeated over and over that I am not an atheist. I just don't believe in the war god of the desert. There are thousands of gods that have been created by men and women. I happen to believe in a benevolent creator that does not need to be worshiped, obeyed, is not jealous or angry or insecure. Jesus taught to love everybody without judgment: gays, blacks, whites, reds and yellow, no matter what religion they follow or if they have no religion at all. No discrimination of the poor, the infirm or the sick. No condemnation of Muslims, Hindus, atheists, animists, Zoroastrians, etc. Spirituality is a personal experience between a person and whatever they imagine the divine to be.
Jesus chastised the Pharisees for making a public display of their faith because that is not spiritual, it is ego.

I also noted the contradiction in post #211, LL.

God, however does not change. His words and his ways are steadfast and reliable.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8 NIV)

Well, I didn't make the meme. I guess I could have put it in Photoshop and take out the atheist bit but I did think of it.

Christians like to quote Saul because 1) they have no idea what Jesus' teaching are and 2) Jesus wasn't a Christian. He was a Jewish rabbi. He came to reform the Jewish faith. But, hey! Saul tells you to go forth and convert the gentiles. Jesus never said that. So, go ahead and make a public spectacle of your faith. It is not me that will have to face judgment for disobeying my own dogma.

In this, we agree, Cliffy.

The cobbling together of disparate philosophies (syncretism) gives way to contradiction, however.
