My conservatism is from a much older form, going right back to the origins of this country. The current very right, right definition that the twentysomethings blythly throw around is a more recent import from a dysfunctional and crumbling political dialectic from just below our Southern border. This is the same place and narrow mindset that the expression "libtard" comes from .. thrown about by those who are pretty liberal by the original meaning of the word. All has been perverted down in Mordor.

I believe there is a HUGE difference between a fiscal conservative and a social conservative.

Social conservatives like government. Look at the Harperites and the Trumpites. They support people and parties that spend uncontrollably, create massive deficits and increase taxes and their only defense is that their leaders aren't socialists. Social conservatives and socialists love government and look to government to solve provlems. As a fiscal conservative, the government is the last I want involved...In fact only as a last resort. It's funny that generally speaking the so-cons have the hardest time with me. I suspect it's because they know I'm right and they're a little embarrassed. None of them ever counter one of my arguments with anything approaching logic. Have you ever seen a Trumpite try and defend tariffs or try and explain why their view on trade mirrors Ed Broadbent? It's funny stuff.

Cannuck,

This quote reminds me of you...

"When they're all about to run you out of town, stand in front and make it look like a Parade."

Thanks for proving my point. I can always count on you Das

Cannuck,

This quote reminds me of you...

"When they're all about to run you out of town, stand in front and make it look like a Parade."

:)

When they're all about to run you out of town, it's because you upset them. I love upsetting social conservatives. It's fun and easy

I'm a conservative. You define anybody that isn't a social conservative "non-conservative". By your definition, Ralph Klein was not a conservative. Is it any wonder I think you social conservatives are idiots.
Did I mention your name anywhere ? I don't look as you being a conservative , I only see an idiot in your posts .

Yes...Yes you did. That's why I quoted you. Like I said...making fun of so-cons is easy. You practically do it yourself.

Is there any political party anywhere that isn't considered hyprocrites by it's detractors?

it's redundant.

I don't think most parties and politicians are hypocritical. They just say what they think will get them elected. They're dishonest more than hypocritical.

Rona Ambrose vacationed on billionaire's yacht during Trudeau criticism

Interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose spent her holiday on a billionaire’s yacht while her colleagues blasted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for vacationing on the Aga Khan’s private island -- although Ambrose cleared her trip with the ethics commissioner.

Ambrose was on a yacht owned by oilsands financier and Calgary Flames co-owner Murray Edwards on Jan. 3-14 as it sailed around St. Barths and Saint Martin, iPolitics reported Friday night.

A spokesman for Ambrose confirmed the report in an email to CTV News.

I'm not usually.

What you misunderstand is that I really don't care if Trudeau spent some time with the Aga Khan....although dragging along a couple of Liberal operatives kinda looks a little less like a vacation with a family friend.....

And I really don't understand how he was supposed to get to a private island without accepting a ride on the helicopter.

What he did wrong, in total, is not clearing this with the Ethics Commissioner.

The major problem is Trudeau thinks he is above rules laid out for the peasants.

This all seems backwards to me. I don't believe in legitimizing power of authority. If an ethics commissioner says something is ethical, that doesn't mean it's ethical to me, including telling the ethics commissioner ahead of time to get a rubber stamp on your unethical behaviour. Ultimately, that's the entire problem with government.

I have no idea how old your kids are, but I hope they are exposed to ideas that actually make sense, instead of Trudeau's unicorns and money-tree world.

I don't have kids. It was a joke. You know "I can't care if you..... just not in front of my kids."

Was Harpo any different? There has always been a disconnect between the rich and poor.

Everybody in Canada is rich. If you think you are poor I'll gladly buy you a ticket to Bangladesh or Guatemala so you can have a taste of true poverty.

and that is the problem with our political system. We have a democracy where we vote for which ever politician's lies we like.

It would be interesting to have a blank line and a non of the above choice on the ballot.

Whatever became of the Harper Klans 'Tough on Crime' Mantra? MacKay wouldn't comment or even suggest he would close the loophole? What's up with that.........?

Interim Tory Leader Rona Ambrose started question period by asking about the man once known as Vincent Li...

“Can the prime minister assure Canadians he’ll look for ways to close loopholes that allow killers to change their names and even walk our streets only a few short years after their heinous crimes?” Ambrose asked.

Manitoba Tory MP James Bezan had previously called on the review board to stop granting Baker more freedom.

Peter MacKay, the justice minister at the time, also expressed shock about the decision but conceded he was “getting very close to the line by commenting specifically on a case.”

It must be really embarrassing when you have no idea what you post here. Have you seen a doctor about it?

Perhaps it's just that, being a Trumpite, you change your story so often you've given up trying to keep track. In any event, it's like I said, you practically make fun of yourself.

Personally I am left on some issues and right on others depending on the
circumstance. What bothers me is the flame thrower attitudes on every
single subject. A topic comes for discussion and at times both sides insult
each other to the point where the subject itself is nearly ignored.
We are talking about two senior politicians getting cozy with billionaires.
yes one went to a private holiday and didn't check with the conflict commissioner
The other one went after consulting with the commissioner.
One knew damn well it was a violation and took it as an entitlement and went.
The other one by asking the commissioner had some reservations about doing it
therefore shouldn't have perception is as good as a no no. Even so the latter
still felt entitled.
Even worse the country is debating the pros and cons of leaders holidays and no
one is minding the shi* pile of troubles facing the country and they get away with it
because we as citizens would rather yell at each other than question the ethics and
legalities and wisdom of those we elected. It is like citizens saying I have seen the
enemy and its us
