The reality is that China will be difficult to "send a signal." China cannot match the US in overall military strength, but it is a regional power and it would take all of the resources of the US military to challenge China in a region so close to its shores. Didn't the Dumpster rail against useless military ventures during the election campaign? Well, this is one of them.

This is the dumbest thing anyone's ever posted on this forum.
Nah. You still hold the top spot with, "Wind turbines saved Ontario." It'll take someone with a whole lotta stupid to top that one.
And actually, the opinion isn't wrong. China has gone so far as to claim Philippines territory as Chinese. They haven't actually taken any yet other than a tiny spot of coral island, but the militarized island building in the region is designed to do just that, act as a base of support as they gobble up more of the Philippines and try to stake claims further west into the Indian Ocean and further east into the Pacific.
If you had ANY knowledge of military history, tactics and strategies you'd understand that what you quoted is far from the dumbest thing anyone's ever posted in this forum.
The comparison to Czechoslovakia was intended to mean that appeasement and doing nothing about military aggression, other than a strongly worded official letter, just makes the aggressor even bolder. Granted, the analogy isn't in perfect parallel but it's close enough.
Allow the Chinese to finish building their artificial military island base(s) unmolested in waters that do NOT belong to them and they won't even think twice about engaging the next stage of their conquest.

Of course.

Trump has now made this about people at the top acting like children toward each other.

military?
that isn't the chess board we are on here:

The U.S. debt to China is $1.115 trillion, as of October 2016. That's 29 percent of the $3.841 trillion in Treasury bills, notes, and bonds held by foreign countries. The rest of the $19.9 trillion debt is owned by either the American people or by the U.S. government itself....
....Long-term, China wants the yuan to replace the U.S. dollar as the world's global currency.
https://www.thebalance.com/u-s-debt-to-china-how-much-does-it-own-3306355

They hold enough debt to sink the US if they wanted to unload that debt and crash the USD.
As soon as the USD isn't the reserve currency, the US becomes a third world hell hole.
The chinese don't want to do this, because they would rather not lose their savings, and their biggest market, but push them, and they will pull that plug.

no military about it

lol
two monster nuclear powers and you think it would be a little regional war?

The Chinese share of the national debt is greatly overrated. Using your own figure it amounts to about six percent of the debt. But as you say the Chinese are unlikely to unload a good thing and they don't have to. It would take an immense military effort to confront China in its own back yard and the incoming president has already said he is not into wasting money on foreign adventures. Any tiff between the US and China will be solved through diplomacy, not military action.

In the present state of the world America should be careful. There are many
who wouldn't jump at the first sign to defend her anymore. The world is vary
unstable and partly due to the advent of Trump.
No those islands are not the same as the 1938 affair, if the Chinese went into
Taiwan that would be an act of war worth getting involved in. The Chinese and
the Russians are going to test America's one trick Pony and we will soon see
how far they'll go

A lot safer now with Trump in control. Obummer is a pushover. Russia and China know Trump is batsh!t crazy so they won't be pushing any more.

It looks as if Trump is about to purge his intelligence community (because they tell him things that he doesn't want to hear) all at an historically dangerous time when he needs them the most. He is also pi55ing off the leadership of the planet ... the German Chancellor, the French President, The Chairman of the PPRC, the President of Mexico. Based on what he has said publically about his intelligence organization, other allies may be reticent to share intelligence with the U.S. that could be blurted out in some bizarre tweet. All of this, combined with possibly trashing NATO, leaving the U.N. (he did mention that) and letting the Russians have their way with their neighbours, makes this the most dangerous time in a half century.

AN intelligence community that is either wrong or lies isn't much use. You seen them WMD yet? The only international leaders Trump has pissed off are just leftards anyway. Time they were shook up.

With the US is a deep financial hole I doubt anyone is going to invade them.

they will just buy up the US to use up their treasuries
and the US has already been invaded by 35 million illegals
most under lax border control sponsered by both bushes, clinton, and obama

All the bitching Obama has done about the islands is to get the public now behind building more and arming them to the teeth. That would protect the cities from being attacked and that is the US at it's finest when looking back all the way to Dresden.

Federal land is security on foreign debt. Today that is a lot of land even before the recently added areas are included.
If China owned the whole place they might just chum the waters and wait till the people extinct themselves before claiming the land.

China can whip the USA in an afternoon. Your appreciation of the US military power is from the movies. As example the famous F-35 will never complete a combat mission simple because it's mission was always and only to suck money out of the stupid Americans. That was its mission from day one. Probably the most succesfull aircraft ever in mission requirement satisfaction. It dosen't work it never will and still it earned billions.
Thje best plane ever that couldn.t fly, what a piece of shjt. The flying turd,Russian peasants will be able to shot it down with birdshot.

Fit them in as best you can. Old ISIS members are suitable for desert areas where there is less than 1 person per sq mi. It won't belong before they are happy to see another person. Do the rest in a similar fashion, after all we are supposed to be smart and strong and the former is more important than the later.

Let me make it perfectly clear as a business decision the F-35 was a success, no doubt about that. Something for nothing is #1 in the USA. Canadian farmers can shoot down F-35s. I can't wait to getr one.

Somebody got a lot of money for nothing.
There is only one entity on the planet that does that with impunity. Not being coy about it won't bring them down. They aren't the death star with one part that can fail and the whole thing goes 'poof'. Threats of extinction is all they would need to have them move to their new home in Madagascar along with 30M of their favorite servants from all the various nations.

Trump has a following before he is even sign on. lol The next decade will be a blast.

In theory you should only get bagged once and then you should be aware that 'traps' exist. Every great man had made mistakes, making mistake after mistake is not a sign that you will achieve greatness. (Ashly Brilliant)
