Jays find themselves weak at 1B, short an OF, no lefthander from the pen, no improvements in pitching. They have taken the typical Rogers approach to save $$$$. At least they will spare us the heartbreak of losing the ALCS this year. I'd say 3rd in the AL East is likely attainable with this squad (baring any more major signings).

Until it actually happened, despite already having filled both positions EE could play, I had a faint hope he would return. No longer. EE is now a Cleveland Indian signing a 3 year deal with a 4th year team option worth less than the offer the Jays made and he turned down. :(

I wish him luck in Cleveland. It is a sad day however.

Sad day indeed, IRBS as I too held out hope that he would remain a Blue Jay. I hope he does well with Cleveland.

Jays are apparently aggressively negotiating with Joey B. Both team and players have had a horrible offseason and expect some sort of face saving signing to try to whitewash the egg on their respective faces.

My hopes that the Jays will be able to field a winning team this year drop further every month. They get rid of a player that the majority of fans loved and wanted to see back and now they are in talks with Joey who fans didn't mind seeing leave the team. I've given up trying to figure out what management's plan is and now tend to believe they are just winging it.

So the Jays opened the season losing in extra innings. Looks like their offense is as anemic as it was last year. I can't help but think Eddie at 1B may have made a difference.

They also released Upton Jr. Obviously not a good trade when you look back on it.
Osuna is on the 10 day DL (new this season -- its shorter).

I am not optimistic given Boston has made lots of moves and really improved this season. Might have outside shot at a wildcard.

So 1-5 to start the year. Thrashed by the Rays and the Oreos. No offense to speak off. Pitching has been ok except for clutch situations.

Looks like the start of a long season.

Worst start in Jays History.
Worst team in the whole AL
Worst team in whole league (until Atlanta loses then we are tied).
Losing 2 games at home to Milwakee (a bottom wrung team from the NL).
Shutout today no less.
This team sucks. No other way to put it. This team sucks.

Catch of the Year? Could be as the Jay's Superman takes to the air once again.

I have been following the Jays IRBS - just not commenting on the games. I did get to see them in the come from behind win in their last game with the Indians - now that was pretty.

I can't believe that they are doing that while a big portion of their line-up is on the DL - which was increased today with the addition of Liriano who has soft-tissue issues with his shoulder. It's a wonder Gibby hasn't pulled all his hair out by now.

Watching the first game of the Seattle series today. GO JAYS, GO.
