Radio station dumps atheists for Christmas music

I find the season depressing - only for some tragedy it recalls - but I sure won't get in the way of folk who love it. I have cd and dvd enough to get me through it. That being said, I say Merry Christmas. If someone doesn't like it ... too bad, so sad ... you ain't da boss of me
Christmas is a Christian holiday, so why would atheists want to write and sing Christmas music anyway?
I'm with you on that, IRBS...............mind you.......if my choices were the FFRF, Sean or Rush............I'd vote for Christmas music hands down.
They don't have to, but many do because of the profits involved.
Then there are the non-Christians that go with the season. Irving Berlin wrote White Christmas - the No 1 best selling Christmas song of all time. Berlin was a Jew. There are many non-Christians who sing or write songs about the Christmas holiday. If you are a businessman, the bulk of your annual sales happen now. Money knows no religion.
If you don't like Christmas music, turn it off or change the station. There are plenty of television shows on, other than Christmas ones, available to view. Of course, the Internets is a big place to be entertained and wile away your time. Go to the movies. Read a book. Play pocket pool.
Or just do something old fashioned and play CDs or LPs of your favourite artists.

Actually I quite like traditional Christmas carols and I am a complete non-believer. Music is music. If it is good I will listen to it.
Actually the music is probably the best aspect of Xmas. And the second best is the smiles on the kid's faces Xmas Day. The rest of it is mostly a bunch of bull sh*t, spending money we don't have to impress people.
It ceased to become a Christian holiday to anyone but Christians the moment retailers commercialized the living sh*t out of it. But there ARE plenty of Christmas carols that have nothing to do with religion. "Santa Claus is coming to town", "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", "White Christmas", "Let it Snow", "Jingle Bells", etc etc etc.
As for the retailers and the commercialization of Christmas, it shows how appalling humans can be even then. I mean nothing says "Merry Christmas and good will towards men', like delivering a right cross to the person who's reaching for the same toy you are that's had the sh*t hyped out of it and it's the last one in the store.
Many of my favourite Xmas songs have nothing to do with religion- "Daddy looked a lot like Santa", "Grandma got run over by a Reindeer", "My name is Christmas Carol" and many more. I like the Xmas message of "Peace on Earth and Good Will toward men", Dropping a dollar in the Sally Ann Kettle gives me a good feeling.
I like some christmas music. Bob Rivers has made plenty of good ones.
