I watched a bit of the Mike Pence's speech accepting Trump's nomination as his Vice Presidential candidate.
This guy is a very conventional, standard issue Republican.. in fact he sounds like a classic neocon.. everything Trump ran against in the Party. Anyone who pastes the image of Ronald Reagan at the centre of his mythology, a President of appalling medocrity, simplicity and imcompetence.. one who floated in a miasma of hack Hollywood 'patriotism', sacharine sentiment and onset dimentia.. and became the frontman for scheming ideological apparatchiks who entrenched the Free Market, trickle down paradigm on the country.. is a bit of a fool.
I'm not surprised Trump had so many second thoughts about him. Trump's speech was actually pretty good, focussing on trade and sovereignty and wall street. I doubt Pence had a clue what he was talking about... recasting it as a call for government deconstruction (deregulation, privatization, regressive taxation, monetarism) and libertarian economics.
Supposedly he has connections with major contributors, and can solidify some of the Evangelical vote.. but in terms of practice.. this guy will be going to state funerals and party fundraisers. If Trump gets elected hopefully he'll appoint some independent thinkers to his Cabinet instead of GOP neocon drudges.
