Donald Trump often touts his support for the troops and for veterans. However, his track record of supporting veterans is much more problematic than he would like you to believe. Cenk Uygur host of The Young Turks breaks it down.

“In a statement following his announcement that he would not be participating in tonight’s GOP debate on Fox News, Donald Trump‘s campaign said, “[He will] host an event in Iowa to raise money for the Veterans and Wounded Warriors, who have been treated so horribly by our all talk, no action politicians.” This morning, Ben Ferguson contrasted that with statements the real estate tycoon made in 1991 and 2004, when he tried to get homeless and disabled veterans kicked off of Fifth Avenue in front of the famed Trump Tower.

Trump is decrying “all talk, no action politicians” now just as he was in the 1990s, though the action he wanted the New York State Assembly to take then regarding disabled veterans was markedly different than the action he is blaming President Barack Obama‘s administration for not taking now. (It should be noted, too, that actions that have been taken by some organizations to aid veterans have turned out not to be all they claim to be.) In a 1991 letter to the Assembly, he wrote, “While disabled veterans should be given every opportunity to earn a living, is it fair to do so to the detriment of the city as a whole or its tax paying citizens and businesses?”

Trump will do nothing but increase numbers of veterans. How can that be bad for veterans? Thier organizations and buying powers will swell. Good for the economy.

Veterans are popular, a TV series would be a good idea. Whatever happens to America is up to Americans they think. That they proceed with this soap opera election without open revolt is a testament to the fixation on thier pirate flag even now while they're all walking various planks over shark filled waters. Fake VA groups is a good idea totally in support of greater numbers of veterans. It's time someone missing a limb and horrivly burned from a tank accident should be president of the USA.


Why are the war disabled not playing a greater roll in American government. On another hand, the cost of maintaining veterans is steep, not that they're maintaining US veterans today anyway close to mean human decency. The veterans are discriminated against despite all the memorials. They get sad stories and flags and heart throbbin national anthems, and then some hotdogs and pizza.

they get one day and the LBGTQXYZ gets every other day. Many diseases get whole months. Vets don't sell like disease does.

Do you know how many amputee veterans are having and have had thier medical services, contracts with nation, rights as citizens, amputated in addition to. I suspect that if they were well and able the white house would already be a smoldering relic of a disintigrating short little empire.
