What business do you think is hiring Harper for his connections in getting the contracts that start with the 'right of way' and ends with the taps being opened in a big opening ceremony? (big breath) Some things just aren't meant to change I guess. Him and Blair can have the same docket on the new hot TV series. 'Just how badly did I fuk up?' game show at the Hauge.

Political commentator for the Rebel. Or maybe Huff Post. They could use a little intelligence.

Well, as far as I'm concerned it beats this new brand of "Democracy" all to hell that will cost us all kinds of money! $30 billion for starters accompanied with Sunny Ways. :) :) :) :) I can't afford it.

He was just hanging around until the best deal came his way. All the corporate lackeys do. Good riddens.

Maybe, but it's worth noting the resignation came when he no longer needed the dishonesty cone of protection....

On Tuesday Ontario’s Crown prosecutors announced there would be no appeal of the acquittal of Sen. Mike Duffy, who had been found not guilty last month of 31 charges of fraud, breach of trust and bribery.

The simplest explanation of why the humiliated ex-PM was sticking around so long after the Oct. 19, 2015, federal election when he obviously didn’t feel much like it. To wit: He needed to preserve his Parliamentary privilege long enough to avoid being called to testify about the shenanigans in the Prime Minister’s Office back in the days when the boys in short pants were trying to get then-Conservative Sen. Duffy to stop embarrassing the Harper Government.

Had he been called to testify, of course, the question he was bound to be asked by Mr. Duffy’s very sharp lawyer was, “How much did you know?” We can only speculate on why the former prime minister might have not wanted to have to answer such a question under oath.

Even not-very-alert readers should recall that Mr. Duffy’s guilt or innocence hinged on whether he thought up the scheme to pretend he himself had found those 90,000 Canadian dollars that Harper chief of staff Nigel Wright gave him to pay his contested and controversial housing expenses, or whether he’d been pushed into something he was uncomfortable with by someone in the PMO.

Well, there goes a cornerstone of Canadian democracy.

I am interjecting at this point to inquire about this Canadian democracy. Can you out line the scheme for those of us unfamiliar with the concept. It may help recent emigrants to orientate in this exotic democratic structure kaknown as Canada.

And this is former Liberal leader @BobRae48's reaction to PM Trudeau's tribute to former PM Stephen Harper #cdnpoli

Could you post the tribute itself? Or redircet me to the post I imagine is missing in this thread. I don't follow Canadian politics as you may have already gathered. Nevertheless that is no excuse not to post. What I have been exposed to recently has only reenforced my old idea NTGAF. That attitude has not served has I had imagined it might. Who are these people is a question that too often crosses my mind in these troubled times.Maybe it's time I became involved and to that end I cast a vote in my countys amalgamation war today. I am primmed and loaded to to serve some small part in my civic duty.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I can only cite personal experiences and those my family are familiar with. I've never been impeded from doing any legal thing as I've wanted to, I've been free to travel anywhere within the country with out having to get permission, I've been able to vote as I please, worship as I please, associate with who I please, engage in any legal occupation I please. Does it get any better than that?

As you may have gathered my opinion of Stephen Harper was not positive however this new PM has I think the stuff to make my objection to Stephen Harper dim to insignifigance in the radiant evil emanating from this bactank baby frum an unwholesome coupling in the north of mid century Canada. This specimin which has superceeded Mr Harper has all the marks of the beast a sacrificer to a greater cause than we mere mortals can see or understand if we could see or see if could understand, hide you children and pets. Something evil this way comes. How many of us will be sacrificed to cleanse the orb of the demon Putin? I'm not going to volunteer. I will simply seek refuge in my local Wellness Center.

Yes it does. When you pay no income tax and you don't have to have a fukkin license to hunt or grow pot.

Perhaps you are looking for input from someone a little more sophisticated than I. I've been a pretty basic guy all my life, get up in the morning go to work to feed and provide for my family and through it all have never been hungry or in need. I've been satisfied with that. Harper never restricted our freedoms that we noticed.

Why stay in Parliament. He's got a big thankyou check coming from Bay Street and from the Global Financial and Trading Oligarchy for doing their bidding as an obedient Quisling during his term.

Maybe he'll set up a consulting firm like Chretien to represent the Chinese in shanghaiing Canadian jobs by way of Free Trade Pacts.. like the TPP. Yep he'll be swilling at the trough, pigging out big time. If he's lucky he won't drop dead like Flaherty before he can collect his lucre for selling out his country..

I'd rather deal with the Chinese than the Limeys or the Americans or the Euro trash. The food is better. But he should have asked us before he sold us anyway.

A nice concept in deed but who's going to pay the hospital when you get sick or pay the cops when you phone them complaining of an invader or thief? Do you just want everyone and his dog out in the bush shooting at game and killing animals?

JLM you're a solid man, you'r own hands fed you and your family, as far as I'm concerned you're salt of the earth and a solid poster whose every word I devour. Sophistication is a poor mertric of intelligence which in no way trumps a mans ability to provide for his family and thereby cast his seed into the future where he may dwell behind the scenes in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks for the compliment, not sure if everyone sees me as you do, but that's alright!
