There's absolutely no doubt rates will be going up. After the AB flood my insurance for water damage went up several fold. Every year since I've had to increase my deductible so I can afford the premiums.......................BASTARDS!

Yes.

I don't know about taxes going up because of climate change but I do know about Private Corporations such as Insurance rates going up because of climate change.....

Yeah, they probably blame it on climate change...........................easier than admitting to greed! :) :)

Sure it's going to get worse ... but it's not going to be due to karma or global warming or magic pings from angry wood nymphs. Too many environmentalists have deemed lifeless trees and deadfall to be wildlife habitat, and have lobbied inexperienced lawmakers to back their bull. You can't harvest it for firewood or clean up the tanglefoot. As kindling, it litters the bush floor - giving a running fire a source for slower and hungrier ground fire. Out in the middle of nowhere, that's not so bad. Fire rejuvenates the bush. Near settlement, wildfire is not so great.....

Not all forest fires are bad by any means, actually a good percentage are beneficial!

So you don't believe the Privately controlled Insurance Companies claim as they are about to raise your insurance rates......?

Excellent point!

Why just like the facts on global war, errr, climate change, insurance companies have never upped premiums for non-justifiable reasons.

... True story.. Really

Is that why my truck insurance is 100% more in BC than SK? Climate change makes Chinese immigrants sh-tty drivers?

Insurance in BC has been more expensive for years.. The reason is because AutoPlan (whatever they are calling themselves today) is no more than an ATM for the provincial gvt.

... And they know full well that the average run-of-the-mill green-o-phile will gladly pay through the nose on anything (except their weed and coke) if the eco moniker is attached

I thought most claims were denied due to the water coming overland. If that is the case there should have been a 'modest increase' at best.

I've never had any claims, denied or un denied! They just keep jacking up the premiums!

The problem with Notley and the NDP is they did not believe climate change was happening so they didn't account for more fires......

From the devastating 2013 floods in southern Alberta, which cost the insurance industry $1.8 billion, to the massive fire that destroyed much of Slave Lake, Alta. in 2011, leading to more than $700 million in damages — there's no denying that climate change is a reality from the perspective of insurers.

“It’s happening,” said Insurance Bureau of Canada expert, Bill Adams, of climate change. “The wake-up call is now.”

None of which had anything to do with globull warming and everything to do with lack of planning and incompetent bureaucraps.

There is also the fact that the majority of the fires, including Ft. Mac were human caused.

I heard that speculation. Did they prove it?
