I would much prefer to bring them down as soon as possible. I think they've made the biggest financial mess that any government's ever made in this country for a very long time, and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people's money. It's quite a characteristic of them. They then start to nationalise everything, and people just do not like more and more nationalisation, and they're now trying to control everything by other means. They're progressively reducing the choice available to ordinary people.
Good for Maggie - she had it pegged on top of a lot of other things and she didn't take any sh*t!
Taxpayers are not just responsible for the Federal debt. Provinces have tremendous debts as well as municipalities. We all pay the interest on them all. the total would be closer to the trillions.
I was reading an article about just that in the FP at lunch today. SHould have made a note of the exact number but it was in trillions. More disturbing yet is the ongoing unfunded liabilities of all these various levels of government.

No system works on its own capitalism or socialism when they are applied
in cooperation with each other it can work. Nothing worse than unbridled
capitalism well actually unbridled socialism has some serious drawbacks
too. And socialism isn't just for freeloaders, it is a concept where people
share resources and work with each other to a common goal. Capitalism
has the same drawback. The very rich begin to feel so privileged they want
a free lunch while claiming there is no such thing. They shouldn't have to
pay their share in other words. We need to ensure they system is fair and
that's all

There's one main stumbling block there when it comes to Socialism! Have you ever come across a bunch of Socialists where they are ALL willing to share the WORK:? I haven't.
Yes its a problem and have you ever come across a group of capitalists who are
willing to pay their fair share of the tax burden? I see trouble with both groups.

The internet is essentially a socialist construct, developed by the military and shared with everyone, so it's funny to see people on the internet arguing against socialism.
Who funds these "socialist" programs and when did Socialist start claiming that every form of government entity or program was because of Socialism as it is defined today?
Isn't socialism cultural appropriation either of communism from Germany, Fabianism from the UK, or social democracy from Sweden?
Perhaps so.
I wonder how roads, aqueducts, government buildings, armies were built and maintained prior to the 19th Century. We are supposed to understand that all of these things are because of socialism.
