I suppose if a person was somewhat open minded they could find positives and negatives in most political ideologies. I've always thought that the definition of socialism was governmental control of the distribution of goods and services. I guess this control suggests the need for supervision of society for the benefit of all. I have no opinion on the matter because in this world, who the hell knows what will or will not work. I just want happiness for my kids and grand children .

Her hate for the angstrom is strong.

If we met in real life I bet it would end with really rough sex and her getting the best orgasm she ever had.

That's because there is no consequence. No reason for people to work hard at anything. The government will take care of them no matter how useless they are.

Like I said already. Humans only work as hard as needed to achieve survival

Every animal on earth is like that.

I think one 'problem' with socialism is that there are different kinds. For instance, one big problem I see with Canadian socialism is its ethicist foundation with the separate school system and official bilingualism.

To take a concrete example, one of my classmates in an Ojibwe class I started a few weeks ago laments that there are no Algonquin medium schools in Ottawa or Gatineau.
If we had Swedish style socialism, he would at stand a chance as long as the market allows in under a school voucher programme, but in Ontario and Quebec the government won't allow it, making the market a moot point.

Likewise, whereas in Canada you can sue Sir Canada for failing to serve you s 7up in French but not in a sign language, Finnish Sign Language is an official sign language of the Finnish Constitution.

Again, just as there are different kinds of capitalism, there are also different kinds of socialism, but I just don't recognize myself in the ethnocentrism of the Canadian model.

That's because there is no consequence. No reason for people to work hard at anything. The government will take care of them no matter how useless they are.

I think that is only part of it. For example, many do not realize that even today many indigenous Canadians especially in the North learn English immersion without a foundation in the mother tongue with poor results as in many African countries. Now that many in Nunavut study English as a second language as they do in Quebec and Japan, though their English is poorer, their maths and sciences have improved. Unfortunately southern First Nations often still don't have that opportunity and more than 20% of Ontario public school students speak neither official language as a mother tongue. But Ontario's school system follows a one size fits all policy except between English, French and Catholic. At least the Scandinavians recognized one size fits all does not work in a multicultural society.

Also font forget deafness and dyslexia.

First of all some aspects of socialism works some does not as is the case
with capitalism. And socialism does not a benefit to freeloaders either. To
be fair communal projects such as roads, education, and social infrastructure
are collective things, as are benefits like Medicare.
Before we run out to embrace either approaches socialism or unbridled capitalism
it should be remembered well intentioned does not mean successful.
After all a Camel is a horse designed by a committee but you won't see John Wayne
riding a camel across the American West.
We already have a mixture and I don't want to see either in long term ultimate control.

The flip side , when jails are making profit and student loans too , you have something wrong with capitalism.
