Oil is a bad business these days.

This is a good move.

No, oil is good business these days. All depends on how you view it.Alberta should be promoting large gas guzzling trucks because they have lots of it. Cheap. What they don't have is lots of cheap electricity.Although they have lots of coal which makes fairly cheap electricity. And creates jobs at home. Win Win.

Oil is down to $26 per barrel.

It costs more to produce than to sell.

That's bad business.

I'm sure the Tesla owners really need the $3000.

I love paying other people my money to buy things for themselves.

Only a complete moron would approve of or support this.

GM, those morans....

Opel to launch affordable electric car for Europe

Speaking at the CAR Symposium in Bochum, Germany on Thursday, Opel parent company GM Chairman & CEO Mary Barra said: "GM and Opel have always been convinced that electric cars will play a defining role in future mobility. The game-changing technology of the Ampera-e is a significant step toward realizing that vision. Our new battery electric car is also another boost for Opel's reputation for making innovative engineering widely accessible."

Uh yup. GM has proven themselves to be morons time and time again for the last several decades. Everything from engineering, assembly, parts production and marketing strategies, GM has made some incredibly moronic decisions.

Now, if I can find an electric car that sells for $20,000(-$10,000) subsidy = $10,000/car, count me in!

Yes every car manufacturer will soon be a moran for you lol
It's too bad you have to resort to childish come-backs instead of actually dealing with facts as presented. Oh I get it, you think I'm a "moran" because you think I'm a conservative. Yep, that's typical of the ideologue. Anyone that doesn't agree with their idiocy must be a supporter of the "other party".

Seriously, why do you even bother wasting the bandwidth to post?

GM has already tried to jump into the electric car game with both the EV1 and the Volt. Both were marketing and sales disasters and the EV1 was an engineering disaster.
Never mind the serious environmental impacts from mining, refining and the manufacturing of batteries.

But hey, you don't care about toxic food because "everyone" will be driving electric cars.

This is the problem with ideologists. They rarely think things all the way through, they only think as far as the conclusion they want.

GM also came out with a hydrogen powered car and big oil said flat out that they were in the business of supplying gasoline rather than hydrogen so what use is it to produce something that doesn't run on the fuel that is 'cheap and plentiful'? When gas is no longer produced then other avenues could open up. Right now NG is available but you should be filling up at home rather than trying to find a service station that supplies it.

Invest in coal.

Coal is needed to make graphite/graphene for the billion or so batteries needed to replace internal combustion engines let alone those needed for household, commercial and industrial.

This is why we can't afford to burn anymore coal.

Catching on yet?
