We all get our petroleum from the Gulf of Mexico, here in Eastern Canada (and beyond). It it almost certainly far less less expensive to bring it in by supertanker up the East Coast (or even in existing pipeline) than to pump it "over the hump" in the middle of Canada. This will likely result in Easterners paying more for that energy.
I can remember, not that very long ago when Western Canada had no interest in supplying the East with petroleum. The target market was exclusively the US. Suddenly, the US doesn't want the export pipeline that delivers cheap, safe petroleum right to their doorstep and it is suddenly the patriotic duty of Eastern Canada to take Western oil. It may really be our duty to do so, I don't argue that point but the on again-off again take our energy now-freeze in the dark attitudes in the West do not help your marketing case. Here they are again. Quebec is a bad guy because ...............(fill in this week's reason) Ontario is hateful because ,..........(attach extra paper). It doesn't sell your cause very well.
