Fine by me if you want to be misinformed like the anti Christian dirt worshipping heathens.
What ever you say.

Naw , just have a disdain for posers and azzholes.
How? He wasn't Jewish and hated Jews.
Nicodemus was likewise a career cleric who experienced new life in Christ. (John 3,7,19)
Hypocrisy isn't new Cliffy. But no need to throw everyone under the hypocrisy bus. Actually, it would be better if you threw EVERYONE under the bus. Instead, you attack "many" republicans & Christians. What about democrats & independents & other religions ? Any hypocrites there? Many right-wing Christians vilify the poor, in direct contradiction to the teachings of Jesus. Why the hypocrisy?

In an age where your average Republican politician is thumping the Bible with one hand and trying to strip food from the mouths of the poor with the other, it’s become a sad cliché to point out how little the most outspoken Christians have in common with their charity-preaching, forgiveness-loving messiah. It’s only gotten worse in recent years, with the followers of the man who cured lepers threatening to shut down the government if Obama insists on giving more people access to healthcare.

It's not often you hear another admonish the red letters. I'm in agreement with that. Those are the words I like as well. Any other parts of the NT I can live without.Hypocrisy isn't new Cliffy. It's been awhile since I visted the forum. I had hoped I would have found a harmonious forum upon my return. Instead, I find Cliffy once again proclaiming that all Christians are emmisaries of the devil.
It's good to be back!
And especially for you Cliffy - a little scripture verse & only RED LETTER!!!
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
I did not choose this verse to direct at you, Cliffy. I chose it because I thought it was one of Jesus' best & it is suited to the discussion.
I didn't write the piece. I just threw it out there for discussion. This is a Christian discussion after all. We can discuss other religions if you want but we may have to start another thread.Hypocrisy isn't new Cliffy. But no need to throw everyone under the hypocrisy bus. Butting in here but I prefer the Tanakh, or old testament to the new. If it is read in a figurative sense.I didn't write the piece. I just threw it out there for discussion. This is a Christian discussion after all. We can discuss other religions if you want but we may have to start another thread.
What I find interesting is that if a self proclaimed Christian perpetrated a mass murder, he is not a true Christian, he is just a wacko. But if a Muslim does it, Muslims are all terrorists cuz it is part of their religion. Well, the OT is full of violence and retribution. If Christians don't want to be associated with the OT, then why do they still have it in their bible?
I do not share that view. I see it as more of good vs evil issue. Set politics, religion aside. If someone has commited mass murder, I put that in the evil column. I don't need to hear if they are an NRA member or Jehovah's witness or Hindu or progressive. (I'm not suggesting NRA members, J WITs, Hindus or progressives are evil. So don't give me any jazz on that) I just stick them (mass murderers) in the Evil column. I like to keep it all very basic.I didn't write the piece. I just threw it out there for discussion. LUD, why do you dismiss much of the NT.It's not often you hear another admonish the red letters. I'm in agreement with that. Those are the words I like as well. Any other parts of the NT I can live without.

Well, most of the right wing evangelical tea baggers probably can't read and rely on their blood sucking preachers to tell them what to think. I'm pretty sure the author of that piece was thinking about those kinds of wackos.Because they don't read the Gospel?

Murder=Bad, Very Bad
Feeding the poor= Good
Not Feeding the poor because you are concerned the food may be an allergen to some= Good
Kicking someone in the shins= well that all depends, right?

Thanks Motar. I see the forum is as lively as ever. the only thing missing is the wildebeest.Welcome back, cj.

Gopher, My view is that all people can exhibit hypocritical behavior. I do not currently have a democratic laundry list of sins to present. But, if we tune in to the news, Im sure our fine politicians from both sides of the aisle can afford us many examples. Or we could do as Jesus instructed instead…Get the beam out of thine own eye first before removing the speck in the republicans, or democrats or libertarians etc etcGive examples which illustrate your view that Democrats practice Christian hypocrisy.
As for other religions, Islam is attacked far more than all others combined on this forum.
