Immigration only works when people come here to contribute. Do you know WHY it worked so well in the past? Because people coming here had to be self-sufficient or fully sponsored by family. There was no social system to rely on. They had to make their own way here and then had to make their own way once they got here. As time went by but before the days of mass immigration, newcomers were selected based on their potential to contribute to Canada. Nowadays, at least half of the working-age immigrants that arrive here have absolutely zero discernible work skills and no working knowledge of either official language.
Immigration prior to the '90s worked for Canada and it worked for the newcomers. Since 1995, the policy seems to be, "mass immigration for the sake of mass immigration" and it's not really working for anyone except the scammers.
The hell with logic, reasoning and common sense. Ideology and emotion are what determine Canada's policies these days. And no, "these days" does NOT mean just since Trudeau was elected.
Get it out and then sit back and listen to the feedback. Less military and more social programs to deal with issues 'back home', probably even save a few bucks with just that one move that becomes a necessity should NATO be found to be outdated. He can't open new possibilities on his own but he could be the one that is there when long-term changes are possible.
