Those pictures reminded me of the copper mines up the hill by Globe and Superior Arizona. Several of those man made canyons. When my dad was alive he was a rock hound. He use to meander around those copper mines in search of turquoise, criscola and other blue rock that he liked to make into indian jewelry.hahahaha Goofy.
