Cause you're missing the that business is getting all the informatin it needs from you ALREADY. EVERYTIME you purchase something by debit, by credit, on line etc.
The gov't however, gets the information it needs to plan communities, fund communities and the people in those communities from baby to death from surveys.
IF you're happy not having any of your needs met by gov't agencies, non prophet agencies, Medical agencies then fine. But note the distinction.

Yes that must be why we have to do fund raisers,volunteer labour and apply for lottery grants to keep our community hall open. Same as our volunteer fire departments need to access lottery money for equipment.

All web sites have them, and some sites will not work if you disable them, but third party cookies buy the right from different web sites to "tag" along and monitor your surfing for different reasons eg.(To know what type of advertising to put on there own web site)
If you have ever gone on youtube, to listen to some jazz for example and later shut down your PC without cleaning up your cache and cookies...the next time you open up you tube, you would find all jazz videos on the page you open up instead of the regular mix.

The government's different branches has all the information they need from my drivers license, hunting license, heath card, passport, so does my bank card, credit card etc.
For each of those, it is illegal for them to swap information with each other or divulge anything without a court order. and that's Okay

Because then Canada can say where it's people have come from. When your grandkids look back at archived information for a school project they'll be able to get stats on how many people come from Japanese heritage. how many come from Indian heritage (From India, not First Nations)
If you go to the Wikipage on Canada it talks about where it's people have come from and approx how many in any give year.
It might be nice for those Canadians in 100 years from now to see just what ethnic diversity makes up the canadian population.

Who runs the lottery that gives money to your volunteer fire department? How are they going to know how much funding is needed if they don't have an accurate data on how many live in your community?
And for more important reasons such as some diseases are more prevalent among certain races, so the medical people can be armed in advance knowing where these diseases are likely to crop up and in what numbers.
The census and C-51 collect different kinds of information. The information taken from the census is significantly less intrusive than C-51. It would make perfect sense if you actually compared the two with informed knowledge of both.

Hundreds of years from now, future generations will be looking at the 21st century census and there will be a huge gap in the last ten years. There's a similar historical gap in records between the fall of the Roman empire and the Middle Ages. It's called the Dark Ages for that reason.
Google and Facebook know many times more about you than Stats-Can. The guys (almost all guys) who killed the long form census crying "FREEDOM" aren't exactly "current". They had no moral issues with reading your E-mail, though. "If you're not for the police reading your E-mail, you must be with the child molesters!"
