Yankees lose 10-4. Magic number now 1. Now if they lose every game, they will host the Yankees for single game tiebreaker.

Tomorrow they will clinch the AL East if (at least) one of these 3 things happen:

  • Jays win their first game to Baltimore
  • Jays win their second game to Baltimore
  • Yankees lose their game to Boston
KC currently losing. If they lose, Jays magic number for first overall will be 4. 6 games remain. Jays will host either wildcard game or ALDS for sure right now.

Baseball has never been my favorite viewing sport to be honest. But of course the Red Sox are the home team so I naturally go with them. The Red Sox and anyone who beats the Yankees.

2 for 1 special tonight. :)

KC has lost.

I have two questions. Why does the catcher tag the batter with the ball after he's struck out? And why do they tear the jerseys off some of the guys as per when Donaldson hit the homer to win the last series? Good night for the Jays. A night off and a chance to watch their closest opponents go down to defeat. Yeah.

Uncaught third strike the batter has a chance to run it out. There are additional rules that go along with it to prevent the catcher from deliberately dropping the ball and getting runners in a DP.

No idea about the second question.

Thanks for the answer to my first question, Eagle.........showing my baseball ignorance yet again.......what is a DP?

If the catcher does not catch the 3rd strike and first base is open or there are 2 outs, the batter must be put out either by forcing him at first or the usually easier task of just being tagged by the catcher.

The other is just a celebration thing.

Double play. Which is why if 1st base is occupied, the batter is just out.

WTH? I had the game auto-tuned and it just came on but they were all ready in the 8th inning???? What the heck? I mean, I am over joyed to see the score is 10 - 1 but would really like to have seen the entire game.

It is unlikely that the cable company had updated their schedule with the double header.

If you don't mind it too much, there is word that MLB wants to reduce the length of the games which now are in the 3:02 hour range. But the proposals won't work unless the game goes back to the standard strike zone it used prior to 1970. This will make the games much shorter, something like 2:15 minutes. This is what I want to see - baseball the way it was meant to be played.

OK. Back on topic ....

just finished watching the jays party, I sure understand the happiness and how joyful they all feel

but I have never and will never understand how it is fun, as an adult to squirt champagne all over the

place, I watched very carefully, they were like a group of little boys having a blast, maybe that is

it, just to forget to be an adult for a while and go back in time in behavior.

I have never been a guy, never will, guess I just don't get it. lol

I wonder what they will do if they win the 'big' one.

I turned it off after a short while. Like it was boring. When we win the world series, I will go out and clog up Younge Street. Until then, how about keeping ahead of KC.
