Yeah and I guess you can add to that the young whippersnappers who think they are worth $million a day when they don't know f**k all.
It's sad and pathetic primarily because you don't hold yourself to any standards, but you whine about the Conservative Party being held to the highest possible standard
That's because there is supposed to be a higher standard for government activity than individual activity.
That's why private sponsorships take longer and government has the resources to speed things up.
I just watched a couple of BBC reports on the refugees from Syria. One dealt with harsh conditions for the refugees in Europe (especially in Hungary) with some families getting involuntarily separated which causes great harm to those families. No indication was made as to whether life has improved in any way for those who have crossed the border into Germany and France. The second report dealt with terrible conditions within Syria's refugee camps. It indicated that nothing has been done to correct their problems. Because of this, many people in those camps are seeking to escape into Europe by way of Greece - a nation that has a severe economic recession. This means problems will only get worse there while nothing is done to correct the mess in Syria.
As I wrote above, the better thing to do is to fix the problems in Syria and there will be no further aggravation of domestic problems there or in Greece, Hungary, and the rest of Europe. It follows that neither Canada or the USA will have to deal with that mess as well. As the saying goes, preventive medicine is always best.

He pisses and moans in exactly the same manner when it comes to gvt shelling-out for eco-tech expenditures... He, personally, can't be bothered, but expects that gvt should be shoveling cash down this bottomless pit.

According to your twisted logic; seeing how you won't part with one thin dime to help, I'd say that gvt can easily hit this 'higher standard' by virtue of sending one single dollar.... Or maybe, double the volume of warm mittens that can be air-dropped into the refugee camps
