I forgot that Afghanistan was 100 years ago.

None of these socialist cowards know anything about the Korean fuss either, or Cypress. I bet they would have to google "Greek Cypriots". The world just started with their childish social networks.

I would too, does that make me a Socialist or a Coward? Sometimes we get a little carried away with labels. :)

I agree but in sane numbers, let's process a couple of dozen to start with. Slightly off track but when I was working in your country 47 years ago, the situation on the Canim Lake Reserve was deplorable. Have things improved there?

Heck yeah. I have seen vast improvements since I moved here over 30 years ago. They really became a part of the community and take part in most of the events held in the area. Chief Archie was a part of the Canada Day celebrations I attended at the108 - he welcomed us and sang us a song of greeting. They teach the Shuswap language in the grade school. They have had a clinic on the reserve for several years now and have just added an addition to it. Like any community they have their share of ne'er do wells but compared to years past they are few and far between. There are still properties that could do with a bit of a clean up - but the same could be said for some of my neighbors places. I think you would find a lot of changes, JLM.

Peace keeping is bullshjt.

Especially when you have to stand by and watch mass slaughter without being able to lift so much as a finger to help.

That is heartening, we did a lot of surveying east of Forest Grove for improvements to the road and used to drive through the reserve and past the Cabbage patch every morning. On Monday mornings the side of the road would often be littered with Vanilla and cheap wine bottles. Pretty dismal scene.

Conservative government’s rule overhaul blamed for Syrian refugee backlog

The Conservative government imposed a new rule for potential refugees in 2012 — a change refugee groups say is the reason so few Syrians have made it to Canadian soil.

The rule also appears to have played a key role in the government’s refusal to allow a B.C. woman, Tima Kurdi, to privately sponsor her brother, Mohammed Kurdi and his family.

After Mohammed’s application was returned to Tima, their other brother, Abdullah, tried to flee with his family from Turkey to Greece. Their boat capsized and Abdullah’s two young sons and wife all drowned. Pictures of three-year-old Alan Kurdi’s lifeless body washed ashore in Turkey shocked the world this week.

The refugee groups say they have repeatedly called on Immigration Minister Chris Alexander and the government to exempt Syrians from the rule — which says the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) or another country must first designate a person as a refugee before immigration officials will consider letting them be privately sponsored to come to Canada.

But they say their requests have been ignored.

Then-immigration minister Jason Kenney implemented the rule in October 2012 as part of a broader Conservative government overhaul of Canada’s refugee system.

It only applies to those refugees being sponsored by groups of five or more Canadians, called G5s. It does not apply to so-called sponsorship agreement holders, which are large organizations like churches and community associations that have a long history of privately sponsoring refugees.

Briefing notes obtained by the Citizen say the change was intended to protect against fraud, but also to deal with a backlog of applications from private sponsors while speeding up applications. “It is anticipated that this regulatory change will reduce G5 submissions by 70 per cent,” reads one memo to Kenney.

Refugee groups are now hoping the Kurdi tragedy, and resulting groundswell of interest in sponsoring Syrian refugees, will prompt the government to waive the rule.

“There are so many Syrian Canadians and non-Syrian Canadians who are interested in coming together and helping,” Vancouver immigration lawyer Fadi Yachoua said. “But this regulation is making it very difficult for people to even begin the process.”

..more on this government's gross incompetence..

http://m.therecord.com/news-story/5247363-10-000-more-syrian-refugees-to-be-offered-asylum-by-canada

Canada (Harper) takes in 10,000 Syrian refugees

Personally, don't think we should take any... These people need to take back their own country.. Help themselves, not be leeches on every other country, not to mention the security risk of allowing these fanatical nut bars into Canada to begin with... You know ISIS has seeded the refugees with terrorists

Why do you enjoy lying?

That number is a projection.

We were supposed to do that last year and we've only done 2500 since this crisis began over 4 years ago.

And by the way, the reason for this crisis is primarily the civil war with their own government, not ISIS lol

The US inspired war against the elected government. Somehow it just doesn't seem right that you call somebody a liar and then post this in the same post.

You're delusional, and last I checked we didn't cause the war in Syria, why are we suddenly responsible for their citizen..

Refugee status is no different from the people of Mexico fleeing to the United States for a better life, leaving behind the corruption, drug killings, violence of Mexico. Let's bring in a million or two Mexicans.

Canada and the United States, Britian citizen fought and died for what we have in 2 World Wars. Freedom isn't Free and if they want it they should be willing to fight for it in their own fukking country...

You may have just come up with a solution for having a million of so baby-boomer seniors sucking off the public ***, mandatory winter stays deep into Mexico. The deposits stop when a hello card is not sent in on time.

Perhaps the part he is missing is that we are the reason there are any wars over there at all. Goes hand in hand with stealing treasures..

Well we can't kick them out, my name isn't Donald Trump. But we certainly don't have to take in more refugees..

People need to take personal responsibility for their own lives and freedoms.. If they want what Canada, USA and The UK have to offer, fight for it and make change... Don't come into a country like Canada, then try to change it with Shira Law and other BS.

Why do you? I speak, of course, of your assertion that a Syrian drowning half a world away is murder by the Canadian government.

Tima Kurdi’s pleading letter to allow brother to enter Canada revealed

While the brother is not named in the letter, an official in Donnelly's office confirmed that Kurdi specified in an attachment to the letter that she and her family were sponsoring Mohammed and his family, but that the attachment does go over the family histories of both Mohammed and Abdullah.

The attachment tells of the family's journey from Damascus to Istanbul, including an encounter with Syrian rebels.

The official said Donnelly also followed up with Alexander in April, "seeking any opportunity" to bring the brothers and their families to Canada.
