Canada officially enters recessionNope. Still not official, war was by necessity and pensions are in stellar shape.
Got anymore misbeliefs you want crushed?
Not done much traveling have you!! My first big trip was in 1980 and was treated to an American couple browbeating a hotel clerk for not having space for them!!. They had pushed in front of whole groups of people trying to pick up the keys for reservation they were smart enough to make ahead of time. They were so nasty those waiting apologized for them!!You actually liked the snickering and eye rolling?
Did you ask if they were American or did you just know ?Not done much traveling have you!! Even last year in Europe there were a few Cdn. flags stitched to back packs of young Americans.
Since that time the US has managed to made enemies of nearly every young nation in the world.
Must have because if you will remember Canada did miss the last one. Mainly because the previous government left him with a country in great shape. The Conservative didn't take long to spend us into a recession.Sooo Harper is responsible for the global economy.....hmmm...okay!
LOL People talk to you quite freely when they know you are Canadian. (Or used to) That couple used their US nationality as a threat. Also, we have accents just as the Americans do. I can often tell which part of Quebec many French speakers come from as well as those originating from France.Did you ask if they were American or did you just know ?
Could they not have been rude Canadians mocking Americans ?

Yup, I have some friends that go to Florida every year, and because they speak with a french accent, they have to be ready with the disclaimer that they come from Ontario.....not Quebec:lol:Its sort of like the reception you get by visiting areas of the states frequented by travelers from Quebec. You have to explain that just because you are Canadian you are not an a-s-s-hole and that past behaviour came from residents of Quebec only. My experiences. I am sure there are a-s-s-holes from everywhere.
No it wasn't!! We were not in recession. He took over a very robust economy and literally destroyed it. He spent us into recession!!What Harper did after the recession was mostly appropriate.
Deficit spending is reasonable when you are in that kind of situation.
Don't be stupid. I do not nor have I ever had a problem in the US with a Quebec license plate. However, I was driven practically into the ditch in Ontario while traveling with 5 children in the car. It was by a car with 4 young males and an Ontario license plate, screaming to go back to Quebec!! In Alberta, whiled getting out of my van, I was told "We don't speak French here". Didn't even wait for me to open my mouth. So ignorance is alive and kicking.Yup, I have some friends that go to Florida every year, and because they speak with a french accent, they have to be ready with the disclaimer that they come from Ontario.....not Quebec:lol:
Ontario plates on their vehicles help a lot...
Birdie might be just lucky if she speaks English without a French accent!

From "Is Harper Canada's Worse Prime Minister"Let's be clear. It is not possible for the Canadian Government to spend us into a recession unless you live in a fool's paradise.
From "Is Harper Canada's Worse Prime Minister"
Is Harper the worst prime minister in history? | National Observer
"When he was elected in 2006, Harper inherited a booming economy. With commodity prices surging, the economy was growing at three per cent per year, with an unemployment rate of 6.6 per cent. The government was running a surplus of more than $13-billion, and net debt was $492-billion (and falling).
Fast forward to now and the unemployment rate is 6.8 per cent and climbing, with job growth anemic: only 121,000 jobs were created last year (three-quarters of which were temporary), which did not keep pace with population growth of 308,000. The commodities boom has cooled, in particular with oil prices plunging."
