You haven't heard what happened at Easter?
neither here nor there but the holiday has a couple of special meanings for me. Number one, watching my kids search for the eggs that we hid, to this day my youngest daughter loves boiled eggs primarily because of the egg hunt. Secondly, My mom made the best potato salad and fried chicken that I can remember on this holiday. All the other stuff you folks want to debate on,,, have at it. The most important things to me relate to memories of family and the good times we had together.

Which is a whole lot more important than this banal political crap we fight tooth and nail over. :)

The last I heard was that Jesus is an amalgamation of a few people named "Yeshua" all of whom have been dead for a few centuries now along with Moses and Mohammad.
THE 'christ", described in the Bible, sounds more like Gandalf from LOTR than a real person. (I'm looking to see if you have huge, furry feet).

Aragorn is the symbolic Christ figure in LOTR, AG.

Northern Ontario,
I think MHz got you derailed there. He was trying to say "all intents and purposes", which has a meaning.

I'm not a y'all. I'm just me popping into CC for fun. =) There's loads of fun here, especially if you can ignore troglodytes such as BL.

Right over your head.
Thank you Walter, however in their defense I sometime try and up the language a little past my pay-grade. Put into simpler terms it still results in a message that might be a level above their pay-grade. (in a topic or 2) Nor is it beneficial to talk in a way that would made the red-necks and hillbillies run to the nearest exit. I'm pretty sure I've made a few people dizzy sometime in the past.
If that is still possible today would that be a good thing or a bad thing.

Megahurtz' mind works in strange ways to most of us...

I think the last time I saw him it was in a debate and two women moped the floor with him. Don't forget, you sell more books if your content is in opposition to a large group of people who do buy a lot of books that 'supposidly' explain a book that is already written in a format meant for beginners. If all the money from his books was given to charity would he still write the books?

Does my mind work differently that 'yours', yes but that may not be a bad thing considering your conduct in some threads. Other times your point is actually an opinion and has the same face value that any other opinion has. If you can supply some opinions of 'experts' in the field then your opinion has more value than it did before.

Would you agree or disagree with this statement?
If you want a population of people with an IQ of 160 then you would give the 'standard test' to everybody and then based on the results that would set the education path for all individual in that the parts they scored low in would the classes they take the most and the ones they score high in naturally would be use as a beginning for 'career choices.

That's the problem.
Not everyone that misses a point will have the hindsight to see that part either.

You haven't heard what happened at Easter?

"On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened." (Luke 24:1-12 NIV)

Simon Peter was confused about Christ when he first encountered the empty tomb of Jesus.

Later, when he self-identified as "an apostles of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:1 NIV), he wrote: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..." (1 Peter 1:3 NIV)

Simon Peter was confused about Christ when he first encountered the empty tomb of Jesus.

Likewise, Paul (Saul) was confused about Christ when he persecuted the church.

"And Saul approved of their killing him. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison." (Acts 8:1-3 NIV)

Shortly thereafter, Paul (Saul) had an unexpected encounter with Christ.

"Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?' 'Who are you, Lord?' Saul asked. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' he replied." (Acts 9:1-5 NIV)

Realizing that his campaign against Christians was an attack against God in Christ, Paul wrote: "For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God." (1 Corinthians 15:9 NIV)

Discovering his identity in Christ, Paul wrote: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20 NIV)

I've got a question for you, Motar. You cranked up this thread in reaction to Obergefell v. Hodges, the case which struck down prohibitions on same-sex marriage. So here's the question. Do you think your religion's definition of sin should be written into the civil laws of society? Because that's all Obergefell addressed. Churches remain free to refuse to perform or recognize same-sex marriages, and to condemn them.

You're mistaken, TB. Please revisit the OP and note the topic and audience. The topic is cultural confusion about Christ as it relates to the defining of a Christian. The audience is confessed Christians.

"The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 'Sir,' they said, 'we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.' 'Take a guard,' Pilate answered. 'Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.' So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard." (Matthew 27:62-66 NIV)

uhuh Did Pilate's people check to make sure no-one came in from a different direction? Or perhaps tunnel in underground?

"There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men." (Matthew 28:2-4 NIV)

They convulsed and fainted, AG.
