Look bud, you were the one that was railing to the heavens about how Dutch Disease and the petro-dollar were gutting industry in the mfg heartland.... This came around the time that Mulcair had made such a big deal about it too.

.... Mind you, Mulcair has not been so vocal about this issue anymore, has he?

First off, Ontario manufacturing did get a boost and may still get some boosts because of a lower dollar.

But secondly, the emphasis of the dutch disease is not the relationship between manufacturing and the dollar, but rather resource development and the dollar in an economy where the energy sector is the primary industry.

And Mulcair shut up about it because it's bad for his party's popularity, not because he was wrong on the economics.

There's joy in watching the smart elders ridding themselves of the shackles of their tortured past.

Be free my friends!

You can never be free if you vote ndp.

Wrong again. Read some of your old posts about dutch disease.

How do you feel about this statement instead: the dominance of one sector upon which an economy develops a dependence during which time, that economy does not actively diversify into developing other sectors.

'Dutch Disease' (in my opinion) is basically saying the above.... That said, unless the regulatory environment is too prohibitive (read gvt interference) to advance alternate sectors, how can anyone really lay any blame at the feet of gvt for non-diversification?

Do you honestly believe we are significantly more free after repealing it?

If so, then lay off the Koolaid.

Of course we are. Government intrusion in people's lives is never a good thing. The long gun registry is much like the war on drugs. It focuses time and energy on the wrong subject. Instead of making criminals out of ordinary people we need to concentrate on tracking down and corralling real criminals.

I said significantly.

There aren't many who even give a damn.

Ask the people of High River. If they hadn't been so foolish as to follow the law they would not have had their homes broken into and private property stolen by those charged with protecting said property from theft.

Lol @ the bots focusing on a 'clarification' when everyone knows we are in a recession because of our dependency on oil.

Our dependence on America who is giving us the he shaft. Are they still buying ON goods? Did they frack the f-ck out of their shale while blocking Canadian access to ports all hiding behind environmental malarkey? Did they meet their contract obligations in infrastructure agreements?

Was Harper mean to Obama or something?

Looking to our own interests. We actually have no obligation to buy something just because you want to sell it.

Most of the problems in the oil patch are made in Canada. Greeniees are putting up roadblocks to pipelines and ports on the west coast and no one trusts Ontario and Quebec enough to run a pipe east so we have imported oil on the east coast while Canadian oil is stuck getting to market.
