Hope so- Eddie probably needs and deserves a rest plus Miller should get back in form in case he's needed on short notice.

Pittsburgh's in, Boston is on their way to the golf course! :) :) :) :)

Something is screwy with the matchups. I thought Calgary would be playing Anaheim......................No?

no, calgary is in 3rd place in the division, so that means 2 and 3 play each other.
the two wild card teams play each top team in the conference. the first wild card team plays
the second place team in the conference(anaheim), and the 2nd wild card team plays the conference pt winner.(st louis)

the division plays within the division until each division has a winner, who then play each other

so, winnipeg plays anaheim and minnesota plays st. louis.

the two wildcard teams are from the conference, not each division, one division
could have both wildcard teams, which is the case in the west, as winnipeg and minnesota are the two next top teams after the 3 divisional teams from the conference.

just read the playoff rules at the bottom of the stat page that shows standings.

They sure know how to make things difficult, eh? They probably had to go out and hire someone special to figure out that schmozzle. It was so simple before. :)

it still is, just sounds complicated in print.

.

so, if canucks win against calgary, and anaheim win agAinst winnipeg, anaheim and canucks play each other.
for the divisional winner, then each divisional winner play each other, in conference final, then each winner from east and
west play for the cup.

winnipeg defeated calgary 5-1 toay in winnipeg

dallas def nashville - 2-1

la. def. san jose - 4-1

st.louis def. minnesota 4-2

looks like miller is playing in goal tonight for canucks

well, very strange, loosey goosey game, one you'll not see in the playoffs ever. good for them
for coming back, so that they now have 101 pts for the season.

miller got his feet wet again, and got better as the game went along, and by the end he looked
like his ole self.

i was also hoping so much for 'john tavares' to win scoring title, but jAmie benn has won it by one
point, a hat trick and an assist, he stayed out on the ice for a long time toward the end of the
game, and finally he did get that one Assist that put him over the top, a tie would have given it
to tavares, as he had more goals, but congrats to jamie benn, he is from the western conference, so
that is one good part of it.

imagine l.a. and boston both out of the playoffs, thats enough for a celebration of its own.

both of those teams will make some changes for next year, along with others as well.

buffalo has the first pick in the lottery, i feel sorry for mcDavid if he has to go there, but then
along with other young players on the team next year, they will start climbing the ladder again.

i would love to see him go to edmonton, as then they would have quite a group of youngstars, and they
have improved a lot this season, and with mcDavid on the team, it wouldn't be long till they would
also climb the ladder big time, as they allready have started to do. there home record lately is
very good, their new coach has helped them a lot, and a couple more good defensemen added, and
they will be good to go. and mcDavid would be in the west, where we want him.
my husband thinks the league will cheat and make sure he lands in toronto.

Miller is stinking the place out tonight-not an auspicious return.

well, they do need him to be the back up starting the playoffs, and we should give him some space
to settle in, he was out for a long time.
after saying that, when he was playing as the number one goalie, i never did feel comfortable, as he
was either great or awful, so i became unsure in my own mind, just how he would play.

i hope lack plays lights out in the playoffs, so that they don't have to use miller, and i also hope
that it won't be long till he is 'gone', and lack and whomever becomes his backup are in place.

i'm going to enjoy watching 'all' of the playoffs.

canuck fans should take note of the top line for calgary, they are awsome, and the whole team is hard
working and young and fun to watch. if both teams play well, and both goalies do also, this series
should go to 7 games.
don't ever think that canucks should roll over calgary and win easily, NOT SO.

anaheim will not easily defeat winnipeg, who i have mentioned over and over all year, how big and tough
they are, and also determined and fast, with good goalkeeping. the MTS center in winnipeg is a jumping
place, the most excited and connected fans in the league i'm sure. i couldn't predict who will win this
series.

the central division will be very fast and upbeat, all four teams are top notch, don't have a clue
who will come out of that division, will be fun to watch.
st. louis-minnesota, chicAgo-nashville

You forget that in order to qualify as a True Vancouver Canucks fan one must be a demanding hyper critical prick-just being totally unreasonable is too mild.

lol, there are others here who also qualify, they'll show up soon.

And how has that worked over the past 45 years? :) :)

It would greatly simplify things if Winnipeg would just beat Anaheim and Calgary should put aside any ideas they have. :) :) :) :)

so, then what do you expect, that the canucks could eAsily beat winnipeg? winnipeg might just beat
anaheim, then any other team who challenges them.

That kind of stuff happens so often in the playoffs, I recall many years where the trend has been for the 8th place team to thump the top team, but I guess you have to give a little weight to the statistics. (fickle as statistics can be) :) :)

I think that the Jets are really underrated. In fact, I would chose them to get past Anaheim

Calgary and Vancouver probably be pretty close too. The teams split the season series at 2 wins each, so they are fairly equally matched but the edge does have to go to the Canucks

it just proves 'again' and 'again' that 'all' of the teams are very close in ability and the levels between
top and bottom stays very close, but it is fans who never seem to understand that.

and it again shows how slow starts in the season, and injuries to key players affect teams in the standings,
which make fans think they are poor and also that the top teams are far better than they really are,
compared to the rest of the field.

guess that view of the league will never change by fAns, but when you listen to the people who really know
the whole league, and what is happening with each team, along with all of the players, will 'always' realize that fact.

the majority of each teams fans, don't look beyond what their own team is doing, so the reality of what
is happening is inaccurate.

what i really like this year, more than any other year recently, is that no one can actually name teams
who they think will be dominate in the play offs, other than a few that finished near the top, cause no one feels confident of what team is the best.

its all up for grabs, it will be so much fun to watch.

canadians are a good example, a very medium road team with a goalie who is probably the best goalie in many
years, without him they wouldn't go anywhere special, last year he was injured in the first round, so
they were finished. one player who is so important to a team can make a huge difference.

the rangers are a team i have watched all year, they are a deep team, haven't seen them play a poor game in
a long time, they are steady as she goes, good goalkeeping, even their backup, i give them a good chance,
barring injuries, to make a mark in these playoffs, along with minnesota, who i think have the best
group of high end players in the league, but stuff happens in games, so who knows.
st. louis, chicago, (but without kane, not sure), tampa bay is really good, pittsburg are too battered up,
or they would challenge, and the rest can also do it, depends on some rise in play, consistency and luck.
how about ottawa with all that momentum, momentum is a strength in a tournament.

hope they all do well.

yeah, canucks and flames do seem very close, flames are probably a bit faster, especially their top line,
but canucks have the experience of the veterans/young mix. goalies could tell the story.
flames have scored lots of goals from the back end this year, canucks not so much.
at least we know cAnucks coach won't attack calgary's coach, what a nightmare, glad that is behind them now.
hArtley and desjardin are both excellent coaches, their players really like playing for them.
i love watching the jets, very exciting, they play on the edge, sometimes over the
edge, not so many penaltys now As at the beginning of the year.
any team playing them better bring their work boots, and be ready for anything and
everything.

ottawa/montreal, ottawa with their momentum could do it, but if cary price does it all, mont. will win.
he is the key.

islanders/washington, i certainly want the islanders to win this one, but washington has a very good team
this year, And i think they Are a bit stronger.

chicago/nashville, with patrick kane back in the lineup, and if he is 100% i give the nod to chicago

vancouver/calgary, this one is difficult to predict, Although cAnucks have the experience, and calgary
have the speed, don't have a clue, just going to watch and enjoy whatever happens.

Isles > Caps 3-1

good start to what many call the second season - as always, I oppose these extra long playoffs and prefer NFL/NCAA one and done style tournaments because they are far more intense and more exciting

let's hope they keep the momentum going

i like the outcome, go isles go.

islanders over washington - 4-1

montreal over ottawa - 4-3

chicago over nashville - 4-3 in 2nd overtime

calgary over vancouver - 2-1

excellent games tonight, all of them. happy about the islanders.

heartbreaker for vancouver, if they could have potted 2 or 3 in the first period when they were
playing so much better than calgary, so many good scoring chances, but wasn't to be.
excellent game by both teams.

i'm really looking for to the winnipeg/anaheim game tomorrow

Really enjoyed the Habs vs Sens game last night..........lots of action..........could have done without the 5 min major by PK but the short-hand goal was a beaut. Go Habs! Didn't watch the Canuck game ...........sorry to hear they lost out to the Flames........better luck in the next one.

i've got really mixed feelings in the montreal/ottawa series, i like both teams, love watching eric karlsson
play, such a beautiful skater and great head for the game, but montreal has been my childhood team till
canucks came along.
didn't like the montreal fans booing every time an ottawa player checked a montreal player, come on you guys.
ottawa have some great very good young players, and i hated that slash by pk, it was very nasty, and i
thought a broken wrist might happen, and still could cause stone a problem, no place in the game for
swinging one's stick hard at a very vulnerable area, they all wear those short gloves and there is a
space where their wrists are open to the game, and he has made a big difference to the ottawa team lately,
probably their best player, don'tknow what pk is thinking, and then parading around protesting the call,
he should have been given another one for not just going away and taking his medicine.

still don't know which team i like better in that series.

i think calgary now have their full confidence for the playoffs, gained it as that game went along,
canucks were by far the better team in the first, but the calgary team began to come on through out
the game, then ramped up their speed and energy very late in the game, as they have done all year,
and that goal almost at the end of the game, iced it for them.

the chicago/nashville game was awsome, just the kind of game i expected.

so happy for the isles, didn't think they would win that first game, but it didn't seem all that
difficult for them, but they must be careful, washington has a lot of game, just didn't bring it
last night.
