well winnipeg lost, as we needed them to do, and canucks won in a shoot out giving them 2 for 2 on this
roadtrip.

they started the game poorly, looked like losers for awhile, along with lack, 2-0 for nashville, then
one could see them start to wake up, played better, scored 2 goals to even it up.

tough game, lots of wierd things happened, a freak silly goal that bounced back and under lack's legs
from a clearing pass.

a nice short handed goal by burrows.

a beautiful up the ice passing play started by higgins and finished by higgins, assisted by burrows, and
bonino,
a highlight goal for sure.

great penalty killing on the 5 min. major.

two very nice shoot out goals by bonino and vrbata, and two saves by lack to ice the game for the canucks.

burrows will not get a break on this major penalty, he never does, ever since the stephan ojay (?)sp.
incident, he has been mArked, either given a penalty any time they can, and many times ignored when
he has been illegaly hit, so he will probably be given a suspension, don't think he deserves that, the
hit didn't look that bad, should have been a 2 minute interference cAll.

bieksa should know better, stood over hurt player saying 'something', and i'm sure he wasn't concerned
about his condition, then obviously said something to officials, hence misconduct penalty.

canucks have 95 points now, a day off then into chicago. hope they play lack again, and keep playing
him till they clinch the playoffs.

one more win should do it.

The third Rangers goal reminded me of Pete Mahovolich scoring in the 1972 Summit Series - Canada vs Soviet Union.

If the Canucks make the playoffs can they ask to play against the toughest teams and decline any home ice games?

yeah, how wierd this has been, anyway they have played very well for a bunch of players thrown together,
mixed up many times because of injuries, looked lame with the lower placed teams, gutted it out with
the tougher teams, go figure.

nhl sent down an early message this morning 'that' alex burrows 'will not' be suspended.

i think that is also a message to officials that they over reacted on a hit that should have
been a 2 minute interference call, and even at that, only because burrows had a fraction of a
second to brace himself for the collision and then of course the other guy got the worst of the
crash, because it was going to actually just be a collision of two players who didn't see each other,
but burrows did catch a glimpse of him just before hitting him, there was no intent at all.

but if you get a chance take a look at what 'dustin byfuglien' did to a player, while player was
down on the ice, vicious cross check to the back of his neck, it was very scary to look at.

i'm sure he will be facing a suspension.

What Buffalo-boy did could've killed the guy. Should be zero tolerance.

he does have a phone hearing, so he won't get more than 3 games it seems.

and his treatment on zukarello near the end of the game is also very questionable, couldn't figure
out what he was doing, looked ridiculous.

as much as i've always liked 'buff' a lot, this last behavior makes me take a second look at him,
he is so big and so heavy, that if he decides to 'lose it' again, he could seriously injure someone.
i'm sure the player with the sore neck probably can't even turn his head today, probably willbe given
an mri to make sure no bones are broken. vineault was livid.

st. louis def. calgary - 4-1
rangers def. minn. - 2-0
chic. def. vanc'r - 3-1

looks like the only change we are interested in tonight will be. l.a. defeating edmonton.
edmonton looked very weak against both anaheim and now l.a.

vancouver and chicago had a very even game till the 3rd period, far too much zone time for chicago
in vAnc'rs end, and chicago do have thebetter passing team, just the experience of the team shows
the better players overall, not all players, but the majority of the top players
have been together now for years, know where each other are all the time, but
vancouver checked them well for most of the game, didn't let hossa do much at
all, and even toews had a tough time penetrating canuck's checking.

yeah, too much passing on the power play, and i should have counted tonight how many times a sedin
made a pass right to the opposition, it happens over and over.

lack had a very good game. the one goal was goofy, pin balled off of a player off of lack then toews
somehow, in a crowd deliberately got his stick on the puck And shot it in the net, amazing.

horvat coughed up the puck on a very bad play, causing a goal, a very costly goal, putting them up
by 2

canucks did have their chances, but it wasn't to be, however they are still in2nd in the division,
and no harm done tonight.

saturday in winnipeg

and buffalo boy got a 4 game suspension for that horrible cross check.

good news, and not surprising, they usually end up playing each other, maybe the canadaians can get
some revenge this time.

early game for winnipeg against vancouver.

this game was very important for vancouver, but for winnipeg it was 'everything'.

my wishes for the outcome was one point for vancouver and the win for winnipeg, just couldn't
quite get that one point, came close a few times, but winnipeg was not going to be denied, they
had to win today, there was no other choice for them, and they made it happen.

they are big, they are physical and they were at home, and they were ready.

vancouver still make things hard for themselves by poor faceoffs, as winnipeg started off with the
puck far too many times.

lack played great, but for one soft goal, each goal is so important.

burrows had a great game.

one point for canucks would have helped them toward the playoffs, and the win for winnipeg keeps their
hopes alive, and keeps l.a. from feeling great about themselves.

higgins hit the goal post near the end of the game, would have tied it up, but didn't happen, that
was the one point i was looking forward to, but didn't get.

vancouver don't want to have to play l.a. first round.

As did Dorsett.

yes, he sure did.

sedins are so frustrating, cAnucks definitely need what they can give offensively, which did happen
today, they were pretty good, but still that passing is A big problem.
guess we just have to live with it.

i also like the change, by bringing in sven b-----rchi, sp?, and sitting kennins, big improvement so far,
kennens was doing too much of his own thing, forgetting the structure and strategy of the gAme, and
coughing up the puck, he does have an upside, but games right now are far too important for those
mistakes.

Minnesota: Gopher State
Rangers 6-1 over the Jersey Devils

one sided contest - as usual, Rangers can play well against a team that is not physical -- but can they win it in the more physical games that will take place in the playoffs ???

let's hope so!

what a great game between winnipeg and minnesota tonight, 2-0 final for the peg.

they are playing a notch above season play, backs against the wall, they aren't giving an inch.
just like they played against canucks saturday.

minnesota are a very good team, but tonight pavalec played outstanding, and the size and determination
of that winnipeg team prevailed to give them the win.

in vancouver, the canucks again started very slowly, hence were scored on very early, but they did
play a very good period, had lots of chances, and if they can keep up this level of play, they have
just a good a chance as l.a., but its too bad that they were so slow starting, that goal was not
necessary, just not enough pressure on the player approaching the net, it was not a hard play to
make, they just didn't make it.

first intermission-----

1-0 dallas over san jose in the first

ok, on we go.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
canucks game was intense, nerve racking, fun and very well played by both teams, both goalies were very sharp,

and the pass by henrik to daniel and the shot by daniel, was a sight to behold, worth the price

of admission alone.

canucks were the better team in the 3rd period, and it was very satisfying after doughty's interview

in the intermission, sounding very arrogant as to how they will playbetter in the third, want to

win it in regulation, well take that doughty.

lack was outstanding in the shoot out, and thank you higgins for the great play on quick.

canucks don't clinch playoffs tonight because winnipeg won, but they definitely can breath

easier now. 2-1 for canucks in a SO

san jose playing dallas as we speak, both teams are elliminated from playoffs.

dallas defeated san jose 4-1

The Sedin goal, not just the pass from Henrik to Daniel but the passes from Henrik to Daniel to Henrik to Daniel. Phenomenal play. The Twins were very impressive.

Yes it's very satisfying to see the effort put forth by the Canucks and when LA is taken down a notch it's all that much sweeter.

The Canucks wore out the Kings. They tired from chasing the Sedins and Burrows.

yeah, and who's on first? lol

l.a. could miss the playoffs, we'll have to cheer for calgary and winnipeg, and send l.a. golfing.

yeah, its quite interesting how the game gradually changed around, the chaser became the chasee, and yes
canucks did wear them out, then their big guns came up 'zilch' in the shoot out.
burrows will be black and blue after this game, he is a heart and soul player.

very sweet indeed

they hAve been the best team in the west for a couple of months, tonight winnipeg were just not going to
be denied, so i see minnesota winning those games, at least 2 of them, maybe all 3.
