San Francisco Demands Catholic Schools Stop Teaching Catholic Doctrine

The Archdiocese of San Francisco is under attack from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for insisting that Catholic schools teach Catholic doctrine.
It seems the Board of Supervisors is upset over a morality clause that includes language against homosexuality, same-sex marriage and contraceptives. They unanimously passed a resolution rebuking the Catholic Church and demanding the archbishop ignore Catholic doctrine and respect the rights of teachers and students.
Supervisor Mark Farrell, who sponsored the anti-Catholic resolution, said the archbishop's policies conflict with the values of San Francisco.
I just have one question: Where in the United States Constitution does it give the city of San Francisco the right to tell the Catholic church what they should or should not put in their employee handbooks?
Bill Donohue of the Catholic League put it like this: “It is not the business of the state to police the internal affairs of any religious institution."
As for all you disgruntled Catholic school teachers, if you can't abide by Catholic doctrine, go work someplace else. Government has no right to meddle in the affairs of the church, and that's the gospel truth.

Too many stupid people in the world, not enough sarcasm available to adequately deal with them.

Unreal.

This was inevitable. The post structural world of 'tolerance' is anything BUT.

It is aspires to tyranny and thought control.. and in order to succeed it MUST dismantle the Christian foundations of Western Civilization. What's more it must deny all recourse to reason of individuals by limiting the access to alteratives to its sophistry, knowing how weak and contractory it is.

And its primary target must be the original and purest expression of that in the Catholic Church. It will fail ultimately.. because the powers of hell won't prevail over it ( Mathew 16:18 ).. but it can take down a lot of people in its own mad whirlpool of ulterior motives, hypocrisy and deceit.

You can sign a petition to stand with the embattled archbishop.. but they won't listen.. they have no interest in Truth or democracy.

What's happening in San Francisco is symptomatic of the attack on Christianity throughout the entire West by the forces of Secularization.
Oh no! Say it isn't so. The poor Christians are being persecuted you say. Has their Gawd forsaken them? Are the evil humanists taking over the world? A crusade is what is needed then. Praise the lord and pass the ammunition.

Then don't send your kids to Catholic schools. You know, there are times when the phrase "common sense" needs to come into play.

We are talking about San Francisco here and "common sense" is rarely used there.

Wonder why only Fox News is reporting this? You'd think there'd be an alternate source...

I have seen the comfort religious faith can provide to individuals. I regret I cannot believe. If I did believe I probably wouldn't be such a piece of work.

Nothing wrong with asking them to respect the rights of teachers and students. The bigger issue is when will religious cults move out of the dark ages. I'm sure my boss wants to tell me to go to hell often but he can't, without getting fired.

If that is indeed the case I can see why the U.S MSM isn't covering it.

So private Catholic Schools cannot teach Catholic doctrine?

and herein lies the answer

They unanimously passed a resolution rebuking the Catholic Church and demanding the archbishop ignore Catholic doctrine and
respect the rights of teachers and students.
they are respecting the rights of the teachers and students...teachers applied to work in a Catholic Board...they have to have a recommendation from a priest

students need to be Catholic OR their parents sign off saying they are choosing a Catholic school and are aware of the teachings that take place therein

problem solved

Big Brother disagrees
f*ck big brother, they are pushing super hard here in Canada to force the schools public and Catholic to merge thereby swallowing the separate system, however they are going to be hard pressed to do so...this year in Ontario we have opened the schools to non-Catholics who wish to have their children attend a Catholic school, they have to be fully accepting of the religious traditions...many Protestants are looking into it and our tiny school has two new applicants ready and willing to sign off for their kids for many reasons...prayer in the morning and the national anthem, are just two reasons...

I can understand why someone would choose to place their child in our school and I am not even Christian...

Yes, yes. Global warming is 'cult driven'. Whoa, you're a Fox News Ace. lol.

The 'proof' of AGW (and I use that word proof very loosely) is incidental and secondary ay best.

You want to believe in it on a faith basis, great - fill your boots, just don't jam it down my throat

You're preaching to the choir here Sal... I fully agree with what you have stated, especially in that the parents/legal guardians have made a specific choice to send their children through the Separate system.

Regrettably, you have a vocal minority that do not want any form of choice in the matter... They choose not to incorporate religion or spirituality in their lives (which is just fine by me), but in doing so, are demanding that others be forced to adopt their mores and values.

Ridiculous doe not even come close to describing this logic
