Here’s a new resource for cooling the polar bear spin, all in one place. I’ve updated and expanded my previous summary of reasons not to worry about polar bears, which is now two years old. In it, you’ll find links to supporting information (including previous blog posts of mine that provide background, maps and extensive references), although some of the most important graphs and maps have been copied into the summary. I hope you find it a useful resource for refuting the spin and tuning out the cries of doom and gloom about the future of polar bears — please feel free to share. Pdf here of the text below. This is the 1st anniversary of Canada providing population estimates and trends independent of the pessimistic prognostications of the IUCN/SSC Polar Bear Specialist Group (PBSG) — so let’s celebrate the recent triumph

Here’s a new resource

another blogger... with a blogroll that includes nothing but denier blogs - go figure. What's this... your blogger writes the following: "I am a different kind of polar bear expert than those that study bears in the field but having a different background means I know things they do not and this makes my contribution valuable and valid." Oh Locutus, you...

NASA's Grace satellite's data show that both Antarctica and Greenland ice sheets are losing ice mass; since 2003:
- Antarctica losing ice mass @ ~ 147 billion tons of ice per year
- Greenland losing ice mass @ ~ 258 billion tons of ice per year

further to: Accelerated West Antarctic ice mass loss continues to outpace East Antarctic gains

per analysis of the latest GRACE time series:

We have reached the 69th day of winter. It seems like the 6,669th. Pretty much the same nonsense is reprised day after day. Miserable, punishing, obnoxious, teeth-rattling, bone-numbing weather. Unmitigated, merciless, are-you-kidding-me cold.
New Yorkers cannot recall the last time they walked with their eyes trained forward, rather than watching for ice patches waiting to send them flying, which leaves them vulnerable to ice sliding off buildings from above. And in the evenings the snowplows screech past, drowning out the television in the middle of a Letterman cold joke.

want me to pay more tax .Sorry I am sick feeding that ugly black hole .
After you grow up and see more than half your income eaten by government taxation you might come to see the light .
Myself like many other so called deniers realize that governments are good at spending and good at taxing but aren't
very good at fixing .

So waldo my snake oil drinking friend do you think giving government more money will do anything to alleviate climatic
disruption ?

Hey hey hey. We fixed acid rain, the ozone, the rainforests grew back by drinking even more coffee but in paper cups and gained access to unlimited gay porn on the interweb.

We can do anything.

Northern Ontario,
All these econuts, if not socialists in disguise are wannabe socialists... they all think that the informed "elite" can fix everything if they can get big business to pay for it, forgetting that big business when facing increased costs pass it on to the consumer....us.... so we get to pay for it one way or the other. For academics to get their grant money for their cushy jobs they have to scare enough people to force government to give them more money, which we pay for in taxes.

Limited. It's more of an investment into minds to get the class of employee you want years later. Big bucks goes into recruiting and sponsored Colleges mean first dibs.

there's nothing 'so-called' about you... you're clearly the real deal! So you're concerned about some hypothetical tax increase coming at you! Do you have a figure in mind and what's it based on? Here's a thought my intrepid (hypothetical) tax increase protestor, there are varying approaches that could be pursued... hypothetically pursued! Ever hear of, generically speaking, "fee and dividend"? Check it out, hey! Let me know if it soothes, even a tad, your concern over a hypothetical tax increase, one you haven't even described/detailed... hypothetically!

So waldo my snake oil drinking friend do you think giving government more money will do anything to alleviate climatic disruption?

"climatic disruption"??? Oh, you mean climate change? Are you talking about adaptation, mitigation, prevention measures or any particular combination therein? You say "more money"... how much "more" are you talking about... hypothetically speaking?
