Ah, yes, privatization. How is that working out at Ontario Hydro or BC Rail or most other institutions that our governments have sold off to commercial interests?
It is not a question of just stopping budget cuts at CBC where there appears to this observer to be a lot of malaise and incompetence mixed in with flashes of brilliance that are evinced by some employees. What the CBC seems to need is an independent overall headed by a respected competent person and followed by a budget review
CBC has a lot of original Canadian programming not just the news like the other American clone Canadian broadcasters. This is why Taxpayer money is so important.

What makes CBC so good is that the context of it's stories is not driven by profit.
You can see how the private industry is meant for appeasement or ratings, and the failure of something like Sun News is primarily because the audience in Canada (the stupid people) just isn't there like it is in the states.

Well, if there are so many 'smart' people, CBC should have no problem making a profit off its programs or at least break even and not require government subsidies.
Or they can report accurately regardless of ratings, which is one of the benefits of public broadcasting.
Or you can believe the doof above me who thinks the popular opinion is the best one.
