And if so..

Justin Trudeau accuses Conservatives of cutting funding to federal vaccination program

OTTAWA — Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is accusing the Conservatives of cutting funding to a federal immunization program even as public skepticism about vaccinations was growing.

Trudeau’s charge comes a week after Health Minister Rona Ambrose chided Canadians who have failed to vaccinate their children, calling them irresponsible amid an outbreak of measles in a number of North American communities.

Government documents reveal the Conservatives have slashed funding to the federal immunization program by 23% since 2006.

The program educates Canadians about the importance of vaccinations.

Since 2006, government-commissioned polling suggested Canadians were growing increasingly skeptical about vaccinations, especially during the 2009 H1N1 scare during which some respondents said they heard conflicting information about the safety of the swine flu vaccine.

A 2012 audit of the immunization program also found that it was short-staffed, and questioned whether immunization education efforts were proving successful.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says the government has always educated Canadians about the importance of vaccinations against measles and other illnesses, and will continue to do so.

Good. Justin isn't smoking enough pot. Vaccines are a scam.

Not so much the vaccines are a scam but the program supposedly education people is. much like their anti drug program it is little more than a federal make work program that duplicates what other agencies are doing.

the huge problem is babies and people with auto immune diseases that can't have the injections...that's the problem...so they could DIE if exposed to measles...that's the problem

also immunization doesn't necessarily prevent you from contracting the disease IF some *zzhat has it and is strolling around in public because it stays in the environment for over 4 hours...that's the problem

if my new born got it I would want to kill that ignoramus that exposed my baby

Who????
maybe think about what you are saying before posting before pushing your political agenda...it isn't a left right issue...and it's serious....people can die from it

and only an *zzhat would be glad someone died from this horrible disease regardless of political persuasion

Trying to explain that to a NDP supporter is like trying to explain the theory of relativity to a dog.

Seems to me most of the anti-vaccine nut jobs on this forum are conservative party supporters. People like Cliffy are the odd exception and considering how much drugs he's taking in his life, one can't really be surprised

The article is clear that awareness programs not vaccination programs. Besides, public health is Provincial and Municipal.

There is a risk to crossing the street so should we stay on one side of the street?
Vaccinations have prevented the outbreaks of serious problems and should be a
mandatory part of the school system. Imagine we can stop children from bringing
peanut butter sandwiches because they could cause problems in health of allergies.
No peanut butter but you can send you un-vaccinated child to possibly infect others
with god knows what. Ya most are vaccinated but it is still a danger as it spreads
through the school to those who are also not vaccinated.
The problem with science is its paid for by vested interests now and not as much by
governments that creates doubt and questions the slant possibly applied

You bet, Grumpy. Too many people with weird ideas these days, which is O.K. as long as they don't let their weird ideas affect anyone else.
