That's correct, you got your asses handed on a platter and a couple of hundred years later, you still can't get over it.

And, judging by your attitude, you Yanks can't get over the fact that the United States wouldn't exist were it not for the British Empire, which created it.

The British Empire never gave anything to anyone other than misery and contempt.
Not only did the British Empire gave you your country, the United States, but it also gave you the English language, English Common Law, Magna Carta (the cornerstone of the US Constitution), the railways, the US Navy and myriad other things.

It is the huge British influence which made the United States the country it is today.

The railways in the US didn't start until the early 19th. century you dolt.
The first railway in what is now the United States (the United States didn't come about until 1776) was a gravity railroad constructed by the British between 1762 and 1764 at the Niagara Portage in Lewiston, New York.

How little you know of the U.S. Constitution.
Magna Carta - a gift bequeathed to you by the British Empire - forms the cornerstone of the US Constitution. In fact, you Americans treasure Magna Carta so much that you have the 1297 edition of it in your national archives in Washington DC. And, to celebrate the document's 800th anniversary, an original 1215 copy of the Magna Carta, which is normally housed in Lincoln Cathedral, is now on view at the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and has been since November.

It was the British Navy back then, it didn't become the US Navy till 1775.
A British guy named John Paul Jones founded the US Navy.

Ouch....

At the very least, we all know what an *** you really are.
People don't like me because I have a habit of just telling it the way it is and for pointing things out that are often inconvenient truths for certain people. I don't deal in romanticism and mythologies. I just deal with the cold, hard reality.

If the United States - which wouldn't exist were it not for the British Empire - disappeared tomorrow then Britain would be No1. Even though China, Japan and (for now) Germany have larger economies than Britain, none of them have stronger and better militaries than Britain and none of them are as influential culturally and economically as Britain.

No wonder so many comedians are broke. You do their work for free.

Honestly Blackleaf you have been running around forums for the better part of 6 years preaching to everyone how benevolent the British Empire was, how great it is to be British, how every country connected to the Crown are peasants if not British, and really you are a source of embarrassment for British people.

The banality of your posts projects boredom on your end of living in a place where excitement can only be gleaned by holding on to the past, a fictitious past as a matter of fact.

The British accomplishments are overshadowed by centuries of oppression, ridicule, torture, rape, theft, contempt and outright murder in the name of whatever king or queen rules or reigns.

If you want to be proud of all that, knock yourself out. Here's some breaking news for you, the sun HAS set on the British Empire.

It was the most benevolent empire in history and the United States would not exist today were it not for the British Empire. This is so obvious to most people around the world, but it seems like Americans are in denial about it because it is a rather inconvenient truth for them.

how great it is to be British,
It is great to be British. It's better to be British than to be anything else.

As the great Cecil Rhodes, founder of Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe (another country which wouldn't exist were it not for the British Empire), who wanted the whole of Africa from its southern tip to its very top to be coloured British Empire pink, once said: "To be born English is to win first prize in the lottery of life."

how every country connected to the Crown are peasants if not British, and really you are a source of embarrassment for British people.
The fact that your country is rich and successful was because you used to be a BRITISH colony. It's the British influence which made you what you are today. Had the USA started off as a French colony rather than a British one you would have gone the same way as Chad and most of France's other colonies.

The banality of your posts projects boredom on your end of living in a place where excitement can only be gleaned by holding on to the past, a fictitious past as a matter of fact.
And you just cannot take the incovenient, but OBVIOUS, truth that the US would not be here today were it not for the British Empire. And no amount of whingeing and whining will ever change that fact.

The British accomplishments are overshadowed by centuries of oppression, ridicule, torture, rape, theft, contempt and outright murder in the name of whatever king or queen rules or reigns.
I'm not being lectured in such matters by an American.

I AM proud of the British Empire, and so I should be. The British Empire was the main force for good in this world. That's why it's so tragic that it's no longer with us. It's no wonder most Jamaicans wish to be under British rule again. Like most places, they were better off under British rule.

Yes, your present monarch has done such an impeccable job that has shrunk your empire from 32 down to 16, wait till dumbo takes the reign.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has probably been the greatest monarch Britain has ever had. She's a remarkable lady.

We will concede that point since there really hasn't been much competition. And no worries of any of her offspring coming anywhere close.

Young George looks like a pretty bright and healthy speciman. (probably due to genes passed down from his mother) :)

Nah.............William the Conqueror!

Canada gave birth to Canada.

How can a country which doesn't exist give birth to itself?

Canada is a creation of the British Empire. It wouldn't exist were it not for the British Empire, just like many other countries. This has been an established, well-known fact for over 150 years and the fact that you are denying it all and trying to change history is remarkable.

Canada was created by the British Empire. You're writing your posts in English. Your parliamentary system is the Westminster system. Your legal system is based on English common law. Your military, such as the names of your army regiments, are modelled on the British military. Toronto was founded by the British. Vancouver was founded by a Yorkshireman and named in honour of a Royal Navy officer. The province of British Columbia is named BRITISH Columbia (by Queen Victoria), not Canadian Columbia, because the province was founded by the British.

Really, you're going to have to try harder to try and persuade me and the rest of the world that it was the Canadians, rather than the British, who founded Canada. For a country "founded by the Canadians" there does seem to be a remarkable amount of British influence.

By doing what?
By serving her countries and her peoples for decades, first as a driver and mechanic in the British Army during WWII as Princess Elizabeth - she is the only surviving Head of State in the world today who served in WWII - and then, for the last 63 years, as Queen, and a good one at that.

We will concede that point since there really hasn't been much competition. And no worries of any of her offspring coming anywhere close.

There has been plenty of competition.

Her father, King George VI, was a good monarch, who saw this country through the dark days of WWII.

Her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, was also a great, popular monarch, who ruled over the greatest empire the world has ever known.

Her great-great-great-great-grandfather, King George III, was also an extremely popular monarch, a patron of the sciences such as astronomy.

Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I were great monarchs.

I think you should read some Canadian history, there Numbnuts. Before there was Canada there was two Canadas...........Upper Canada and Lower Canada.

Just think about which country has the most influence on Canada and how it's run today. You're like a smaller Britain overseas. Canada is said to have got its independence from Britain, nobody else.

Henry was great all right............about 350 lbs. He was also an abuser of women as I'm sure Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard could attest to. He was also a f**king A$$hole and stupid too, not enough brains to realize that it is the father who is the cause of the gender of the offspring. Elizabeth was all right (a f**king miracle considering who her father was)

He was great. He broke England away from Rome and the Catholic Church and founded the Royal Navy. He is also supposed to have written Greensleeves.

He was also an abuser of women as I'm sure Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard could attest to.
Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard committed adultery (even with her own brother, in Anne's case) whilst married to Henry and so deserved to be beheaded.

Upon hearing news of Catherine's execution, Francis I of France wrote a letter to Henry, regretting the "lewd and naughty [evil] behaviour of the Queen" and advising him that "the lightness of women cannot bend the honour of men".

He was also a f**king A$$hole and stupid too, not enough brains to realize that it is the father who is the cause of the gender of the offspring.
What a stupid comment. You're the one without any brains. I should point out to you that Henry lived in the 15th and 16th Centuries

Elizabeth was all right (a f**king miracle considering who her father was)
Henry was a great monarch. One of the very best.
