There in lies the problem. The Punk security guard didn't get away with murder. He was found not guilty after evidence exonerated him. Evidence of the fact that he was having his head beat off the ground. Was he stupid for pursuing the guy? Sure. Just a point. The fact that Zimmerman was legally within his rights to follow Martin, and possibly confront him (we'll never know), and that Martin was the aggressor, making Zimmerman's self-defence legal, does not mean that Zimmerman is not a complete asswit who provoked the confrontation that led to him killing a teenaged boy.

Being legal doesn't make it smart, or moral, or proper. Simple fact is that Martin was innocently walking home when Zimmerman, by his own actions and no doubt with visions of hardness dancing in his head, initiated the confrontation. Yes, it was legal. There will be more incidents of violence against young male blacks, innocent or guilty, because statistically, they are mostly guilty of something when arrested.

I don't think you need a degree in sociology to see where things are headed in the USA.

For that matter, a degree in sociology is a hindrance to seeing pretty much anything clearly.

The protests against and murders of police officers, based on a racial motive, will only further the need for better armed and better protected police.

Or maybe it will lead to a re-thinking of police arms and tactics, and the community policing practices and different tactical approaches will help bring cops and communities closer together.

I'd be interested in seeing those statistics. Then I'd point out nobody is "mostly guilty." You're either guilty or not. If, for example, 70% of young black men arrested are guilty, that does not make any given young black man 70% likely to be guilty. That is a misuse of statistics, based on malice or ignorance or both.

Cops know this, and so does everybody else, it's just socially unacceptable to say so.

Arresting young black men is one thing, killing unarmed young black men (or anybody else) is another. Nice try conflating the two, but no sale.
