Northern Ontario,
Where did it say he lives in a city?

Same could be said for any sport.
There was this woman in our club, man could she shoot and hunt....And I don't think her husband ever fired a gun, he had just married into a hunting family...
A couple of us just happened by the side of a logging road where she had dropped a moose at quite a distance with just one shot . (we knew it was just one shot because I stopped my truck a distance from her when we happened upon her as she was taking aim)
We gave her a hand quartering it and hauling it back to her truck....
She also had witnesses to her shooting skills at the next club meeting and of course she or rather her husband bought the round for her helpers at that meeting...

He was no old man of the forest Sunshine. Far from it.

Well in Missouri they call a 7.5 year old buck overmature, and describe these bucks by their declining body condition which the hunter and taxidermist both reported, and declining participation in the rut. Sounds like an old man to me.

Bagged many bucks in Missouri Pete? I haven't, and I doubt you've shot enough bucks in Missouri to be representative, so yes of course I looked for the resource managers publications.

What's the age distribution of bucks where you shoot?

He did the thing a favor. Poor thing couldn't hide from predators. It would have been ripped to shreds while still alive for a demise.
Nonsense, it was 7 1/2 years old according to the article. It was an alpha male breeder. At that age it would be pretty tough meat, so the only reason to kill it was ego.

A 10 point buck was an alpha? What was it boinking? You really think real bucks let it forage on their grass and boink their does? Do you really think a doe is going to breed with a malnourished disadvantaged male?

What forest do you live in? An enchanted forest?

Are they different than TX or MN or MT or AZ?

The management schemes and population structures are the same in Missouri and Arizona? Do tell.

The buck made it to 7.5 years and was declining in health. Obviously it could evade predators. There are less bucks at the 7.5 year old end of the distribution.

Happy hunting Pete.

About the White Deer | Seneca White Deer, Inc.

They breed.
The white deer found at Seneca Army Depot are a natural variation of the white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), which normally have brown coloring. The Seneca White Deer are leucistic, meaning they lack all pigmentation in the hair but have the normal brown-colored eyes. Albino deer, which lack only the pigment melanin, have pink eyes and are extremely rare. The Seneca White Deer interbreed freely with the brown deer in the former Depot and appear to share the habitat equally. Some of the white bucks show a flattening, or palmation, of the antlers, but are physiologically similar in most other ways. - See more at: About the White Deer | Seneca White Deer, Inc.

I've lived in the forest, with the deer for more than 45 years. I know how to survive in the bush without electricity or indoor plumbing. I think my chances of survival when the crap hits the fan are greater than most. I have walked up to wild deer and petted them, I have kicked bear in the butt to save their lives, so if someone who thinks the ability to hunt will save them, they are wrong. In the city, people will hunt each other. Less than 5% will make it as far as here. We can handle that.

ffs

all of the pretend hunters, Pope & Young experts. adhoc wildlife management specialists, taxidermy grads and wannabe survivorman dudes show up...mick 'celebrity hermit' dodge will be along shortly when he can flintstone-together his wifi.

anyway, this dude was asked to kill the deer by a friend on that guy's property.

first shot at 14 yds grazed a branch and missed, second at 25 didn't.

it was taken legally

110 lbs of meat was donated to a local family in need.

the buck likely made it that far because city folk gave it a mystique and hunters gave it a pass

the full body mount will probably show up at a bass pro or cabella's.

hooves-up, can't breathe
